4.0 out of 5 stars なんにしても貴重な一枚, 2006/2/7
速くなく遅くない、絶妙のテンポで始まり、何かを予感させ、語っていくようなヘルフゴッドの演奏には本当に感動する。この人の演奏をもっともっとたくさん聴きたいと思った。
ただ、ヘルフゴッドの天真爛漫な演奏はオーケストラと調和が必ずしも取れているとは思えず、この人ならではの危なっかしい演奏が、世界一難しいと言われるこの難曲でさらに浮き彫りになっていて、オーケストラも合わせるのに苦労しているような場面が幾つも垣間見れ、聴いている方がとてもハラハラドキドキする。そこが面白いと言えば面白いし、許せないといえば許せないかな。いずれにせよ、この人のＣＤは普通のピアニストのＣＤでないことだけはお墨付で、とても面白いです。

技巧的にはいろいろ意見もあるかと思いますが、映画「シャイン」を見た私にとってはどうでもいいことに感じます。
正確さや音のきらめきにこだわる私にはなんとも不思議な感覚です。
人間の奥深い部分に響く演奏だからだではないでしょうか。
もっといろいろな作品を聴いてみたくなりました。

　ヘルフゴッドの演奏は心の深いところにジーンと響きます。とくにこのラフマニノフピアノ協奏曲第３番は、魂をゆさぶります。

　技術的にはいろいろな指摘もあることでしょう。でも、彼の演奏は何か言語化できないものを表現している。激しい情熱というのか、それとも一種の神がかり的な昂揚感とも言うべきか…。ぼくはこの曲を聞くと激しい情念の燃焼と言い知れぬ魂の安らぎとを得られます。
