　ストーム・トーガソン（ex-ヒプノシス）が手掛けた特異なジャケットと、「人生ゲーム」という邦題が秀逸な、ソロ1作目（〜プロジェクト時代を含めれば11作目）。各ページには、鳥の面を付け 羽を生やし 逆さ吊りになった人 or 人々がたくさん並んでいる。一体どうやって撮影したのかと思う、謎のアートワークである。1993年リリース、原題は「Try Anything Once」と言う。

　長年連れ添ったリード・ヴォーカル：エリック・ウールフソンが参加しなくなったこの作品。彼なしでアラン・パーソンズ・プロジェクトは名乗れない、ということでソロ名義になったのである。従って、ヴォーカルを除けば、サウンドにそれほど違いはない。デヴィッド・パック他、多彩なゲスト・ヴォーカルによる歌と、1980年代シンセ・テクノ風知的ポップによる演奏は健在だ。

　M-2「Turn It Up」（邦題：沈黙の向こう側）は日本でもシングルになり、洋楽8cmシングルとしてはそこそこ健闘した記憶がある。若干音が重厚になった点と、ウールフソン不在による違和感が、コアなファンから指摘されるも、楽曲はどれも良く、なかなかの秀作に仕上がっている。M-1の「いかにも」な電子音、女性ヴォーカルが歌うM-5。インストの新たな名曲M-4（原題：Breakaway）と、聴き所も豊富。自分は結構好きである。

1993年リリース。通算14作目だがこのアルバムから『アラン・パーソンズ』となり『ブロジェクト』の表記がなくなっているのでソロとして捉えると1作目とも言えるかもしれない。（●＾o＾●）
リーフレットはどのページも逆さ吊りの人ばかり・・・・これが何を意味するのか不可思議だがヒプノシスあたりならやりそうだと思ってデザイナーを見るとStorm ThorgersonとPeter Curzonという人たちらしい。知らない名前だ（●＾o＾●）。前作のオリジナル・アルバムは第11作目の『Gaudi』で1987年だから6年ぶりの作品(この間に『Limelight(ベスト盤)』(1988)と『The Instrumental Works』(1988)が入る)わけだが出来映えはハッキリ言って『Guadi』よりかなり落ちる。なんとなく叙情性が無くなってしまってオーケストレーションばかりが目立つ気がする。

アラン・パーソンズ最大の魅力は曲毎に変わる叙情性溢れるボーカルだった、ということに気がつくアルバムである。
