『AKIRA』の大友克洋の原作をアニメ化したオムニバス・アニメ作品。帰還途中の宇宙飛行士たちが朽ちた宇宙船に迷い込み、孤独に死んだ天才ソプラノ歌手によって作り出された幻に搦めとられる「彼女の想いで」（森本晃司監督）、ある薬を飲んだことから、その体で毒ガスを生産する殺人兵器となってしまった男の行く末をブラックユーモアで描く「最臭兵器」（岡村天斎監督）、移動砲台都市で、大砲を撃つためだけに働く住人たちの平凡な1日を淡々と描写する「大砲の街」（大友克洋監督）の3本。1995年劇場公開作品。
ストーリーはいたってシンプルながら、3本それぞれに「どう見せるか」に工夫がこらされており、飽きさせない。作画や動きにも妥協は全くなく、日本のセルアニメの水準の高さを堪能できる。中でも「大砲の街」は、見た目上カットが途切れないユニークな作り。大友克洋の映像センスを改めて確認できる傑作だ。（安川正吾）
