   1998年に放送され絶大な支持を受けたSFハードボイルドアニメーション。2071年、ワープ航法が実用化されている時代の太陽系を舞台に、無法者や犯罪者を追うカウボーイ＝賞金稼ぎコンビのスパイクとジェット、女賞金稼ぎフェイ、天才少女ハッカーのエド、そして犬のアイン、宇宙船ビバップ号で行動を共にする彼ら一行の活躍を描く。
   各話ごとに彼らが追う賞金首たちのドラマを中心に1話完結で展開しつつ、全体を通してはそれぞれの背景に迫る物語が進行、軽いコメディタッチからシリアスまで、幅広くも統一感のある引き締まった出来となっている。また、TVシリーズ全26話のほか、22話と23話の間に位置する内容の劇場用長編が放送後に製作されており、あえて後日談にしなかったところにクリエイターの潔さを感じさせる。（田中　元）

この作品をはじめてみたのは02年毎日放送での再放送でした。
はじめて見たときこんなにもかっこよくおもしろいアニメがなぜ前から脚光を浴びなかったのか疑問に思いました。ここまで全話完璧に施されたアニメはファーストルパン以来の出来ではないのかと私は思います。なんせテレビ東京では98年頃金曜の18時に数話しか放送されていなかったんだから当時わかるわけなかった・・・（ＷＯＷＯＷはとってないし・・・）テレビ東京など地上波局は視聴率だけで作品を判断して作品そのものの出来に対しては見向きもしてないのではないかとおもいます。さらに監督の渡辺信一郎さんはカウボーイビバップにつづき、
監督最新作サムライチャンプルーも地上波を打ち切りにされたそうで、
渡辺監督は運がなさすぎるのでしょうか？それとも地上波に嫌われているとか・・・

さすらう賞金稼ぎたちの毎日は楽なもんじゃないわけで、４thセッションからの続きで始まる５thセッション。一話完結できてたbebopが、ここにきて前編後編と分かれたのはなぜか？やっぱ伝えたい事が一話だけじゃ伝えられねェってことやろね。「ジュピター・ジャズ」前後編ともにモサモサのかつて仲間であった、そして憎みあうことになってしまった仇、凶暴を名に持つシドが再び登場！！これは２thセッション「駄天使たちのバラッド」からのキーストーリーだから４thもチェック！！詳しくはそっちでレビューしまっせ。後は抜粋でイイ？えっはやいって？お前レビューの意味知ってるって？だってさー目が痛いっちゃもん（：c：）携帯でメール打つのとは違うよね。人差し指でピコピコやるのも俺の性に合わんしさー?えっ聞いてないって？レビュー参考になったかどうかで、絶対いいえって？まあいいじゃん息抜きに。えっもう「いいえ」にしたって？...........................。

さて、ついて来れない方はほっといて（モンモンや~い）こんなぽくでもついて来てくれたあんちゃんねっちゃんのために、次いきます。この話のタイトルは、クイーンってバンドの曲にあるんやけどけっこうブッ飛んでます。ふにゃふにゃの欠食児童は終始チェスしてるし、主夫の商売敵は狂っちまうし、あやしい植物が育っていたり、サイケデリックな勘違いラァ~ブっっェァァァアンドゥ！！ピーィィィィっス軍団が元気玉作ってたり（......んなわけねぇって）とにかく「なんだっ！」ってお前がなんだって、船に賞金首が居たり居なかったりするんだけど、インテ??にむかって言う主夫の言葉に俺は救われた。ジィィザス　うっ　クライィィィィィィッッッッスト！！（........ちょっと言ってみた）

最後に、よく喰うロマニ-の秘密がちょっと明らかに！！実は男だったとか美容整形してたとか、彼女がそんなだったらドゥしようとか、んなこたないから心配しないで。えっなに.......関係ないって？あ~大丈夫........大丈夫って、そっとソフトに伝えれば彼女も傷付かんって、えっ.....ズレてるって？........わ~かってるっってェー。とにかく昔の男が賞金首としてロマニ-の前に現れて自分のためにそいつを逃がそうとするんだけど、モサモサに阻止されて「おイタだめ」っておしりペンペンされるん。............るん？って。俺さー、彼女には絶対したくないタイプのロマニ-だけど、ちょっと!「キュン」ってなった。へへっって、なーんて嘘。ウソ嘘。俺そんなことで騙されないから。安い男でもね。
