エモコアなる言葉はエブリション周辺の激エモーショナルなハードコアにも使われたが,本バンドはじめ巷で言うエモは初期以外のディスコードやハスカー,あるいはダイナソーあたりから続く米インディ・カレッジ系にも通じる資質で別物。{コア}ではないと思う。

上のCDジャーナルで、いいコメントがありますが、まさにそのとうり。今のハードコア系のエモコアとはまったく別物と言っていいかもしれない。
Promise Ringは、この頃のジャケットセンスからも分かるとおり、CDジャーナルコメントの後者に当たる、Indie Callege,Power Popから派生した初期のエモコアの代表的バンド。これと大体同じ時期に出たGet Up Kidsの"Four Minute Mile"なども同じエモコアと呼ばれていました。90年代後期、punkはメロコア（日本名称）一色の中、この2作はEmoというジャンルをはじめて陽の目の見る場所に送り出した作品ではないかと思う。

どこか哀愁漂う中に、やりきれないような初期の衝動が詰まっていて、
ある意味、すごいpowerを感じます。
Indie Callege & Lo-Fi、power popなんか好きなひとは是非。
