1995年３月に突如エイベックスからリリースされた現時点での最新作、花粉症で苦しみながらこのCDを購入したことを思い出す。日本製の影響かどうかわからないがジャケットの海の色が異様に綺麗で驚いた記憶がある。内容はエリックとグレアムが別々に作った曲が交互に並び、インパクトの強い曲が出来なかったので往年の名曲「アイムノットインラブ」の再録を目玉に売り出した作品といえる。第１弾シングルは再録ヴァージョンがカットされ、今思うとレアシングルCDとして抑えておけばよかったと後悔している。　　しかし、僕はこのCDを駄作とは思わない。エリックの曲はコンピュータ打ち込みサウンドでやや単調だが、グレアムの曲は生楽器を使ったり、ストリングスを入れたり、１曲だけアンドリューゴールドを引っ張り出してデュエットする（日本人だったら狩人あたりがカバーすればはまりそうな曲）などグレアムはかなり頑張っていると思う。特に「ピースインアワタイム」「ブルーバード」「最後の決心」などは、前作「ミーンホワイル」には無かった聴き応えのある曲で「いい曲を作ったなあ」と当時感心させられ何度も聞いたものだった。前作はぎくしゃくしながら久々に慣れない共同製作をやったけどいいものは生まれなかったといった感じだったので、このときの開き直って各自自由奔放に作りましょう方式は正解だったと思う。

過去の栄光といかに決別するかが大きな問題。ノスタルジアにしかなっていない感じ。グレアムとエリックのソロのカップリングのような印象はぬぐいされない。ワックスを聴いているような錯覚にもなるし、なんだかアウトテイク聞かされているようなマジックに襲われる。

創造のマグマがあふれていないような印象。手の混んだポップマジックというのは突出した才能が化学作用を起こしてはじめてできるのだなと再認識。１０点中８点。曲は悪くないです。やっぱり。

日本原盤として製作された目下のところの最新スタジオアルバム。しかし、内実は、エリック・スチュアート、グラハム・グールドマンそれぞれが多重録音により別々に製作した、いわばソロの作品が交互に並べられたもので、純粋にバンド名義で聴くと肩透かしを食う部分がある。

勿論個々の楽曲の出来は秀逸で、そこに異論の余地は無い。特にエリックの曲ではポール・マッカートニーとの競演を果たしたtrk5あたりが聴きものだし、グラハムのほうでは、WAXでのパートナーであるアンドリュー・ゴールドをゲストにまねいたtrk8が白眉だろう。

１０ＣＣのサウンドは、やはり際立った個性の衝突から生まれる刺激的なものであってほしい。エリック、グラハムの２人は勿論、夢かも知れないがケヴィンとロルも加わったァ?リジナル4人の１０ＣＣが聴きたい、そんな気にさせる、罪作りなアルバムである。
