大ヒットシングル「CAN YOU CELEBRATE?」を収めた、小室哲哉プロデュースによるサードアルバム（TKプロデュースのアルバムとしては２作目）。売れるアーティストで実験してみたかったという＃１をはじめ、アイドルっぽい曲あり、大人っぽいミディアムナンバーあり、とバラエティに富んだ楽曲が揃った。この後のツアーに間に合わせないといけない状況で、作詞こそ、当時絶大な信頼を寄せていたマークに、ほとんどの曲を作詞させたのだが、＃７，８以外は小室哲哉作曲によるナンバーで固められ、安室には一切の手抜きはしなかった。
サウンド面ではあまり良いとは思わないが、＃１．２．９．１２のような曲は、そのあと進化して、globeの「wanna Be A Dreammaker」（日本レコード大賞受賞曲）のような大ヒットナンバーとなって進化する。今思えば、実験色の強いアルバムだったと思う。

休養前に出たアルバムでは一番好きかな。
真夜中に1人で部屋を真っ暗にして聞くのがおススメ！

あまり知られてる曲じゃないけどWhisperが大好き。
自分が10代の間に一番多く聞いた曲。。。

前作「SWEET 19 BLUES」からおよそ1年、20歳になった安室奈美恵の通算3枚目のアルバム。

高いサウンドクオリティと心理的なコンセプトで固められた前作は、あまりにも完成度が高いものでした。それに比べると、本作はテーマや統一性が抜け落ちているため、主役の安室よりも裏方の小室が前に出た“小室哲哉の新作発表会”といった印象が否めません。他の小室系アーティストに歌わせても差し支えないと思えてしまうほど、安室が歌う意義が見当たらない楽曲が目立ちます。

ですが、曲単位でみると、オリコン1位を獲得した3つのシングル作品はどれも安室奈美恵の魅力を存分に活かした楽曲で、なかでも「CAN YOU CELEBRATE?」はシングルで自身最高セールスを記録した名曲。新録されたアルバム曲も、洗練されたサウンドで、シングル曲に負けじと存在感を出しています。問題なのは、アルバム曲とシングル曲のもつ雰囲気に差があることです。大衆性を意識したシングル曲に対し、全体的にドライな空気が漂い、どこか無機質なアルバム曲。前者はもちろん素晴らしい出来ですが、小室の息吹が込められた、マイナー路線の後者にも捨て難い魅力があります。

ここで紹介するのは、レゲエロック調の「Me love peace !!」。ソリッドで乾いた音のなかに人間の体温のような生ぬるさが塗り込まれたサウンドと、感性を剥ぎ取ってつなぎ合わせたような詞とが溶け合った、どこか毒のある楽曲。詞は確かに支離滅裂ですが、様々な解釈ができそうな意味深な内容。南の島を舞台に、脅威と隣り合わせの愛を描いているのではないかと思います。

他には『Be w/z you』『No Communication』がおすすめ。やはり、全体的にマイナーな仕上がりの本作。一般リスナーよりも安室ファン向け、特に小室ファンのためのアルバムです。
