　2001年、ADAGIOの1stアルバムです。

　ADAGIOは、フランス出身ギタリスト、ステファン・フォルテによるプロジェクトです。
　メンバーは、
Stephan Forte (G), David Readman (Vo, PINK CREAM 69),
Richard Anderson (Key, MAJESTIC), Dirk Bruinenberg (Ds, ELEGY), Frank Hermanny (B) です。

　メンバーを見ても、明らかに一流なのですが、曲・サウンドともに高品質です。
　ネオクラ系・パワーメタルという感じですが、
クラシック要素については、バッハの鍵盤系、教会音楽が強く、荘厳な雰囲気です。
　Richard Andersonのkeyは、特筆もので、
パイプオルガンやチェンバロの音を出して、よりクラシックに荘厳にしつつも、プログレ・メタル的な要素を持ち込んでいます。
　Stephan Forteのギターは、ネオクラ系ですが、
イングヴェイではなく、Jason Beckerのような一音一音を大事に弾くような感じで、とても、いい印象です。
　そして、Stephan ForteのギターとRichard Andersonのキーボードが絡むと、かなりかっこいいです。

　普通のネオクラ系パワーメタルより、一歩先を行くバンドだと思います。
（なお、曲調が似たものが多いので「☆-1」させていただきました）

フランスのネオクラシカル・プログレッシヴメタルバンドの1st
本作ではまだプログレ的なサウンドは潜めているがメンバー全員の卓越したテクニックを駆使したネオクラシカルサウンドはこのジャンルでは最高水準ではないかと思うほど。
Keyによる中世ヨーロッパ風？なアレンジも非常に豪華で思わず耳を奪われる。
特に3曲目であるIn Nomineのイントロなんて聴いた瞬間昇天！チャーチオルガンは反則だよ！
ただ歌メロがイマイチなんで星4つかな…
インストは素晴らしいんだけどなあ…

バンドと言うよりはプロジェクトだと思う。フランス人ギタリスト、ステファン・フォルテがピンク・クリーム69のデヴィッド・リードマン（ｖｏ）、マジェスティックのリチャード・アンダーソン（ｋｅｙ）、エレジーのダーク・ブルイネンバーグ（ｄｓ）らに参加してもらって制作した作品。

音の方はクラシカルでややプログレがかったハード・ロック。演奏自体の質はさすがに高い。ギターも誰かのコピーみたいなプレイでなく、テクニカル。でも曲がなぁ・・・「おぉっ！」ていう曲がない。原因はヴォーカル？上手いんだけど、フックがない歌メロにあるかも知れない。

9がツェッペリンの「移民の歌」のインスト・カヴァーなんだけど、これがなかなかの仕上がりであることを考えると、なおさら、そう思える。
