ジョン・マーク（ソングライティング、ヴォーカル、クラシック・ギター担当）とジョニー・アーモンド（サックス、フルート、ヴァイヴなど担当）の英国人デュオによる’７８発表のアルバム。ジョン・メイオール＆ブルースブレイカーズでプレイしていた二人とは思えない、ジャズ~ロック~フォーク~ブルースなど多彩な要素をクロスオーバーしたＡＯＲの名盤である。当初はバンドとしてスタートしたが、’７６からデュオとして再スタートし、本アルバムは２作目（バンド時代に４作ある）。プロデュースがトミー・リピューマ（マイケル・フランクスで有名）。三曲目はダニー・オキーフ、８曲目はマイケルフランクスの作曲。サポートとしてジョン・トロペイ（ｇ）、ウィル・リー（ｂ）、スティーブ・ガット（ｄ!!ｓ）など、Ｎ．Ｙ．のジャズ・フュージョン系のミュージシャンが勢揃いしていることから、曲の雰囲気は想像できるのでは．．．。特徴的なのは、ヴォーカルのジョン・マークの声であり、低音で繊細な声がフォーク、ブルースの雰囲気を醸し出している。

男という生き物は、体は枯れても心は枯れない。マークアーモンドのアルバムは全てがそんな熟年男の純情を一貫して表現している。その中でもアザーピープルズルームは傑作の一枚。マークアーモンドには珍しく都会を意識した曲作りも新鮮、いつもながら耳元で囁くようなボーカルスタイルもこのアルバムがもっともベスト。

　真の意味でのAORを聴かせてくれるバンド（といっても，このときはデュオでしたが），Mark-Almondが1978年に出したアルバムです。

　初期の作品と比べると，所謂AOR的なサウンドに近くなっていますが（参加ミュージシャンもそちら系の人が多いしね），しかしそのサウンド（特にジョン・マークのヴォーカル）の味わい深さは，凡庸のAORバンドが束になっても敵わないものがあります。
　特にストリングスが印象的な『Just a Friend』は泣けます！
