ブラン・ヴァン3000の1998年のデビュー・アルバム(夏にジワジワとヒットした『Drinking in LA』が収録されている)に続くこの『Discosis』は、ビートと最先端のポップスとを融合させた意欲作である。中でも優れているのは1曲目の『Astounded』だ。これはリーダーのJames Di Salvioが、亡くなる直前のCurtis Mayfieldにアプローチして出来上がったものだ。病に冒されて参加できなくなったMayfieldは、自分のこれまでの作品を使っていいと提供し、Di Salvioは彼の未発表のボーカル部分を使用して、この偉大で官能的で感動的なソウル・ミュージシャンをトリビュートした。その他の曲でもDi Salvioは大物アーティストとコラボレーションし、都会的な愛と生活についての風刺的な作品を作り上げた。『More Shopping』ではMomusとJacques Brel の雰囲気を出し、『Loaded』では黒人ギタリストの巨匠Big Daddy Kaneが参加、,そして『Senegal』ではYoussou N'Dourがお得意の軽快なリズムで歌っている。Lucy O'Brien

なんとも不思議な感じが全体的に漂うアルバムです。

ヒップホップとレゲエ、そしてPOPが混ざり合った
テクノな感じです。

Go SHOPPIN が個人的には一番好きです。

Go SHOPPIN目当てで購入したんですが、
他の曲も結構あたり!!!

ひさしぶりに自分の好きなジャンル以外ではまりました！
ドライブにで聞くといいかんじかも！？

日産ウイングロードのCMで一躍話題になったGo Shoppinも収録されている、 Bran Van3000のアルバム！

御大Curtis Mayfieldやハウス界の大物Dimitri From Paris,フォークトロニックのヒットで知られるMomusなど多彩なゲストに迎えて製作された一枚。アルバムタイトル通りのダンサブルなディスコチューン~ソウルミュージックまでオシャレなサウンドがいっぱいです。

Executive ProducerにBeastie BoysのMike Dの名が！オークションに出されたGrand Royalからリリースされています。

日産ウィングロードのCMで聞いて、気になって気になって見つけたGo SHOPPIN はいい。ほかの曲もジャンルはバラバラだけど、結構いい。
