国内盤のSACDがステレオなので、マルチ-チャンネル盤がどうしても手に入れたくてこれを購入しました。再生してみるとやはりステレオ盤とは違うオーバーダビングで、今まで聴いたことが無いリズムギターの音がします。なんでもオリジナルのレコードが発売された当時は「4chステレオ」がブームだったので、それに便乗して4ch盤をリリースしたとか。
　その時の4ch音源をSACDの5.1ch用にリマスターしたのが本作だそうです。30年前から現在まで「ブロウ・バイ・ブロウ」はLP盤を2回、CDはリマスターされる度に3回も買い換えてきましたが、このSACDは音質の良さ・ミックスのレア度ともに最高ですよ。特にギター・ソロの音はリア・スピーカーに定位するので聴いててとても心地良いです。
　値段の高い国内盤SACD・ステレオ仕様より、米国盤のマルチ-チャンネル仕様を手に入れるべきです。

1975年リリース。ジェフ・ベックの名を不動のものにした作品。
まず最初に特筆したいのは『面子』が素晴らしいことだ。プロデューサーはあのジョージ・マーティンでオーケストレーション・アレンジメントも担当している。ベースはロッド・スチュアート・バンドの『I'm Sexy』のプレイで有名なフィル・チェン。キーボードはいわゆる第2期ジェフ・ベック・グループからのつきあいの盟友マックス・ミドルトン。ドラムのリチャード・ベイリーはこの時わずか18才だったが実にすばらしい（●＾o＾●）。
曲はスティービー・ワンダーの曲が2曲（6・7）、ビートルズの曲が1曲（2）で残りがほとんどメンバーもしくはベック自身の曲となっている。当時一緒にツアーをしていたマハビシュヌ・オーケストラにインスパイアされたような曲調が目立っている。
黒のレスポールを弾くジェフ・ベックはまさに『職人』で、オール・インスルメンタルで聴く者をノックアウトする。しかしながらピーター・バラカンも指摘している通り本アルバムではジェフ・ベック一人目立っているのでなく4人、あるいはプロデューサーのジョージ・マーティンを含め5人互角の勝負をしているところがいい結果になった気がする。

なにしろギター小僧の必須アイテムなことは間違いない。必聴！（●＾o＾●）

75年発表のジェフベック初のソロアルバムです。ギターインストアルバムの走りとなったアルバムで、かのジミーペイジをして「ギタリストのための教科書」といわしめたアルバムです。また、サウンド的にはフュージョンの走りとなったアルバムですが、ブルージーな要素を多分に含んだ黒っぽいＪＡＺＺロックになっています。このアルバム以降あまた出たギターインストアルバムのように、ガンガン弾きまくっているわけでもないし、派手なアレンジをほどこされたわけでもありませんが、keyのマックスミドルトンら実力あるメンツを従えて、ベックのギタープレイも冴え渡っています。また、第５のビートルズといわれたジョージマーティンがプロデュースに当たっており、コンセプトアルバム的な作りになっているのも特徴でしょうか。
何れにせよ、ギタリストファンには是非お奨めの名盤です。
