スウェーデンのメロディック・デス・メタルバンド、SKY FIREの1st。ツイン・ギターの4人組でギタリストはそれぞれキーボードも兼任している。同系統のバンドと比べてもキーボードは、かなり派手に使用されており、楽曲アレンジでも重要な一端を担っている。疾走感も充分にあり、めまぐるしく転調を繰り返す楽曲はどれも非常にドラマティック。ほぼ全編マイナー調で哀愁を漂わせているが、壮大でド派手なキーボードアレンジも相まって、閉塞感や絶望感と云うようなネガティブなイメージは希薄。又、楽曲の一曲、一曲は非常に良質でメロディの持つ求心力も強く、(特に#4、#5、#9辺りは秀逸)混迷しつつあるシーンの中でも頭一つ抜きん出た存在では。しかし、アルバム全体を通すとアレンジが似通った楽曲が多く、単一的な印象も。 Children Of Bodom、THRONE OF CHAOSの1st、辺りがお好きな方には特にお勧めです。

スウェーデンのメロデスバンド、スカイファイヤーの1st。
先に2ndを聴いていたが、これを聴いてみて「なんだ1stの方がいいじゃん」というパターン。
メロデス、というよりはシンフォニックメタル、というべきだろう。
のっけから壮麗きわまりないインストが始まると、「どうしてこれがデスなの?」という気持ちになる。
曲に入ってもキラキラのキーボードは変わらず、デス声のVoが入り疾走が始まると
確かに彼らはまがりなりにもメロデスバンドなのだと分かるのだが、
ここまで大々的にキーボードを使いまくった聴き易いデス系バンドはそういないだろう。
冷静に曲を追えば、アレンジはそう凝ってはおらず全体的にやや単調なのだが
瞬間を切り取った音は常に「大仰」「シンフォニック」「壮麗」なので
その手の「やりすぎ」が好きな方にはオススメできる。BAL-SAGOTHよりも綺麗な感じ。

スウェーデンのメロディック・デスメタルバンド、スカイファイヤーの1st。3rdから聞き、初めて最後に1stという手順をたどったのだが、一番1stが良いと思う。1stが一番作りこんでないし。ラプソディーみたいなシンフォニック系メロディで始まって、戸惑っている間もなく、伸びのいいチルボド系デスボイスが乗ってきて疾走!一応ブラストビートなどデスメタル要素も忘れていないし、かといって聞きにくいかと言うとそうでもなく、とても聞きやすい。こんないいバンドが今まで世に出てこなかったのが不思議でしょうがない。ただ2nd以降はほかのメロデスバンドと同じ道をたどり、プログレ感を混ぜてきたので単純疾走系メロデス(ノーサーとか昔のソイルワークとか)好きにはあまり良く思えないだろう。まず聞くならこの1stだ。オススメ曲はバンド名の「Skyfire」、タイトル名の「Timeless Departure」、「Fragments Of Time」などなど。ぜひ買ってください。
