ボブマーリーを聴きだしてから、この作品に辿り着いた。最初はレゲエなんて、と思っていた僕だったがその魅力の虜となり、このボブ生前最後の作品にとても興味を持った。私はまだ初心者なので判らないが、「エクゾダス」あたり、もはやレゲエの域を越えているのである。まして最後の作品。実際に聴いてみたら、とても激しく、また穏やかで自らの死を認めた上での音楽という印象。最後の曲を聴いた時、思わず涙が出た。そこには全てをやり遂げたボブの姿があったから。
　レゲエファンではなく、ロックの好きな方にお薦めします。

5.0 out of 5 stars ボブ・マーリーの「白鳥の歌」, 2003/8/15
リデンプション・ソングを初めて聞いた時、自然に涙があふれてきた。ボブは、この歌がリデンプション・ソングだ、と歌っているんではなくて、「これまでの全てがリデンプション・ソングなんだから」って。本当に感動したし、ボブ・マーリーという男の凄みが分かった気がした。この曲こそボブの自伝的な、そして最後にふさわしい歌だと思う。

だから『アップライジング』はリデンプション・ソングで終わるべきで変なボーナストラックはいらない。

この作品自体もいい出来。後期ウェイラーズの集大成といったかんじでポップさキャッチーさと深みをあわせ持っていて、zion trainとかcould you be lovedあたりが秀逸。5workは実際の「白鳥の歌」（最後のライブで最後に歌った曲）。ベストをある程度聞いたらこのあたりから聴くのが良いのではないでしょうか。

オリジナルアルバム（ＬＰ）は「ＲＥＤＥＭＰＴＩＯＮ　ＳＯＮＧ」で終わっている。
ＣＤではボーナストラックとして「ＲＥＤＥＭＰＴＩＯＮ　ＳＯＮＧ」をバージョン違いで収録している。
これ、間違っていると思う。オリジナル（ＬＰ）でこの歌で、ボブ・マーリーの弾き語りで終わらしている、その意味が分かっていてＣＤにボーナストラックとして収録しているのだろうか？
