キャラヴァンがオーケストラを従えて行った７４年のライブ。
彼らは超絶技巧で魅せるタイプのプログレではない｛それでも十分上手いと思うが｝。しつこくなく健康的ですっきりした印象の音だ。プログレならではのオーケストラとの共演により彼らの魅力が十分に引き出されていると思う。イエスやピンクフロイドあたりが好きで彼らを聞いた事がない人にはお勧めする。

キャラバンが、ニュー・シンフォニア・オーケストラと行ったライブレコーディング。キャラバンの音楽性とオーケストラ楽器との、本当に見事な融合。ロックやジャズでよく見られるオーケストラをバックにしてやっているものの一つではあるが、バンド、オケ、どちらも不自然に出しゃばることなくお互いを引き立て合っていて、キャラバン本来の音楽性である牧歌的かつドラマティック、それでいてジャジーな面が見事に表現されている。この時代にこれだけのことをやっていたミュージシャンがいたんだ、ということを知らしめてくれる一枚です。

７３年発表の６作目。『夜ごとに太る女のために』期のキャラバンとニュー・シンフォニアとの共演ライヴ盤。録音場所はドゥルリー・レーンのシアター・ロイヤル。いわゆるロックとクラシックの共演アルバムのキャラバン盤として捕らえるべき作品であり、１．は、いかにもクラシックというイントロを付けた曲だが、途中から前作を彷佛とさせるギター・リフが登場してビオラのソロが絡む。２．はキャラバンらしい穏やかな曲であり、ソウルフルなバックコーラスが付く。３．はオーケストラが加わってドラマチックに激変した。なかなか見事な共演をしており、そのオーケストラをバックにデイヴのオルガン・ソロが流れる様は聞き応え十分。中盤のビオラのソロ、後半のギターのソロも素晴しく、このアルバムのハイライトの一つだろう。４．はハープやオーボエの音色が美しい。初期のキャラバンらしい雰囲気を持った佳曲。後半のデイヴのオルガン・ソロは絶品。５．は２ｎｄからの曲。初期キャラバンの代表曲であり、ややオケがうるさいが、中盤〜後半ではデイヴの素晴しいオルガン・ソロが満喫出来る。この曲が入っているだけでもこのライヴ盤は価値をグッと上げていると言っても良いと思う。
オーケストラとの共演盤という企画ものの中では、どちらかが押したり引いたりするといったこともなく、バンドとオケの演奏がかなり自然に溶け込んでいるため成功した部類に入ると思う。また各メンバー、特にデイヴのソロが満喫出来るのも嬉しい。曲数は少ないが、かなり贅沢なライヴ盤だと思う。
