１曲目のSunday Songのメロディーの美しさは
とても言葉では言い表せません。
アルバムの終わりに再び同じメロディーが…
そして内部奏法を伴った最期の音に
心臓を射抜かれる思いがします。

その後、プロデューサー、アイヒャーとの対立から
ECMでの主要アルバムすべてを廃盤にされてしまうという悲劇が…

「日本だけの限定発売とはいえ、僕の代表作であり思い出も多い二作
（本作と『エルム』）が地球上のどこかで確実に入手できるのは、
何ものにも代え難い喜びだ。」

なお３曲目Koanは「コーン」ではなく禅の「公案」のことです。

Richie Beirachが1977年にECMレーベルに吹き込んだソロ･アルバム。冒頭の"Sunday Song"から陶然たる美しさに満ちた素晴らしいアルバムである。あらゆる観点でECMレーベルの透徹な美学に貫かれたピアノ･アルバムであり，美しいジャケットは本来はLPサイズで愛でたいところ。Beirachにはこの後も多くのピアノ・ソロ･アルバムがあるが，本作が最高傑作。QuestやLive Under the SkyにおけるColtrane Tribute等でのハードな演奏とのギャップが非常に大きく，Beirachには様々な側面があることを理解した上で，彼のキャリアの中でも屈指の作品であると断言しよう。このアルバムの（日本のみの）再発に感謝。

リチャード・バイラーク(pf)のソロ･アルバム。
美が結晶化している素晴らしい演奏内容だ。
キース・ジャレット(pf)のソロ･アルバムと較べても遜色はない。
この演奏家は日本のド田舎である高知県で演奏してくれたこともある。

そして、同時に劈開(へきかい)もみられる。
両面を併せて至高だ。
