「ライジング」発表直後の76年にドイツで行われたツアーの模様を収録したライブアルバムです。同時期のライブ音源に「オンステージ」がありますので、それとの比較を中心にレビューします。

録音についてはリマスターされた「オンステージ」が勝りますが、当アルバムも決して悪いわけではありません。ただ、ギターとボーカルのボリュームが大きく、他の楽器が軽く聞こえるミックスになっています。

８曲で約100分という大作であり、インプロビゼーションとりわけリッチーのギターには凄まじいものがあります。そして決定的な差は、公式ライブ音源で唯一、名曲「スターゲイザー」が聴けるということでしょうか。

要は、バランスの良いライブが聴きたければ「オンステージ」、リッチーのギターが堪能したければ当アルバムが良いと思いますが、何れにせよ、ＨＲファンが満足できるライブアルバムであることは間違いありません。

はっきり言って良いです。このアルバムにはRブラックモアのカリスマ性を十二分に堪能できる。
彼のライブアルバムは、D.P時代のLiveIｎJapan.RainbowのOnStage.
その他、結構な数、名盤と誉れ高い物もあるが、本作のギタープレイは
上記LiveInJapan.と肩を並べる傑出した出来だろう。
自分にとってレインボーの最強ラインナップは何時の時期と尋ねられたら、二枚目名盤「ライジング」発表期のこのLiveのメンバーが最強と思う。グラハムボネット・Jリンターナーといった名ボーカリスト在籍時のラインナップも確かに魅力的ではあろう。但し、やはりD.P脱退後
、一つの様式美を追求した曲調とギター、そしてロニーJディオ・今は亡き コージーパウエルといった歴戦の名手・実力者を従えたライブパフォーマンスは何より、偉大であろう。
本作はLiveならではのRブラックモアのアドリブが存分に聞け、中には彼のギターサウンドの基であろうブルース、バッハ（クラッシック）等の音色が顔をだす。そして様式美の追求とでも言うべき、名曲の数々を聴けば、まさに不世出の偉大なギタリストであることが一目瞭然となろう。本作品のベストトラックは、Disc１．キャッチザレインボーである。心技体すべてにおいて充実した、バンドサウンドとギタープレーが堪能できる。ギターとボーカルの音が大きく、バンドサウンド全体のミキシングが今一つとの印象も受けるが、どっこい虹伝説は本作では大いに全開であろう。ラスト曲 Do You Close Your Eyes はまさに若き日の
Rブラックモアが燃えに燃えまくる絶品の出来。
