この歌はドラマの主題歌として使われていましたが、ホントに聞くたびに心地よく優しくなれます。
シングルを購入する前にこの歌がドラマで流れたいたとき、あ！サザンの歌だ、と思いじっくり聴いていました。そして発売と同時に購入。
何回聞いても飽きがこない名曲です。

一番盛り上がる早口のところは聞いていてシビレますし、歌ってみてもジーンとします。

どれくらいセールスがいったかは知りませんが、隠れた名バラードだと思います。

2000年下旬にリリースされた、この曲。来る21世紀に向けてのメッセージが、この曲の歌詞のいたるところに盛り込まれており、この曲を聴くと今でも20世紀に想像していた、21世紀の情景が浮かんでくる曲です。また、カップリングの「チャイナムーンとビーフン娘」という曲も、原坊が切なく歌い上げてとてもよいです。「心をこめて花束を~茅ヶ崎ライブバージョン~」では、茅ヶ崎ライブに行っていなくても、行っていても、ライブの臨場感が伝わってきます。

　サザンにとって、「TSUNAMI」の大ヒットで始まった2000年は、非常に思い出深いものとなっただろう。その2000年を、そして20世紀を締めくくる曲が、この「この青い空、みどり」である。なおこのタイトルは、その年の夏に桑田さんのインタビューが掲載された「Free＆Easy」の表題でもあった。
　記録的ヒットを遂げた「TSUNAMI」や、強烈なインパクトを残す「HOTEL PACIFIC」に較べて、やや目立たない印象のある今作だが、未来への希望を高らかに謳い上げた、心に残る作品だ。
　そして、このシングルはサザンオールスターズが６人で作った最後の作品でもある。翌年の夏、ギターの大森隆志さんが脱退し、サザンは５人編成となる。サザン自体はその後もヒット曲を連発するのだが、長い間サザンを聴いてきた私にとっては、この作品が実質的なラストシングルである気もする。
　歌詞カードの、大森さんの笑顔が切ない１枚である。
