　知る人ぞ知る宮川泰とあのハネケンこと羽田健太郎の共作アルバム。ＣＤ化は本当に嬉しい。
　音楽は映画を引き立てるためにあるのが普通だが、このアルバムの場合は完全に音楽が映画を超えてしまっている。この映画そのものには好きずきがあるだろうが、映画が忘れられていくのとともに音楽まで消えていってしまうのはあまりにもったいない。
　「冥王星海戦」「FIGHTｺｽﾓﾀｲｶﾞｰ2」など名曲の数々は言うまでもなく、ハネケン自らピアノに向かう「SYMHONY OF THE AQUARIUS」などどうだろう。今となっては電子音楽ばかりになってしまったアニメ音楽からは到底考えられない、生のオーケストラを贅沢に使った壮大なピアノコンチェルト。ヤマトが自爆したクライマックスに流れた後半のフーガ部分など是非聴いてほしい。たかがアニメ音楽と言うなかれ。その凄さに圧倒されてしまう。

「宮川泰さんの音楽がなければ、ヤマトはここまでヒットしなかっただろう。」
このＣＤを聴いていると、改めてそう思います。
1つの映画に、何枚もの音楽集レコードが発売されたということをみても、「完結編」の音楽へのこだわりはシリーズの中でも群を抜いていたと思います。
どんな小さな場面でも、その場面用の音楽が用意されていて、セリフの後ろに隠されてしまうのが惜しいほど、どの曲もその長さは関係なく、映像に美しい石をちりばめたような輝きを添えていたと思います。
ここまで、登場人物の心情やその背景に見事に合った曲には、脱帽の一言です。
羽田健太郎さんも加わり、最期の「ヤマト」を大いに盛り上げたと思います。
他の「完結編」の音楽集も併せて鑑賞されることをお勧めします。
違うバージョンも、また別の表情を見つけることができると思います。
映像の方は賛否両論ですが、音楽はそれだけで十分感動を味わえます。
ただのアニメ映画のＢＧＭ集とは違う、「宇宙戦艦ヤマト」と「戦艦大和」への、重厚で愛溢れる曲を是非聴いてみて下さい。

3/21に亡くなられた宮川泰さんのご冥福を、心からお祈り申し上げます。
年末の「紅白歌合戦」のエンディングで、楽しそうに指揮棒を振られる宮川さんの姿を、もう見ることが出来ないのが残念です。

1枚目のディスクは徳間音工盤も含めた既成のCDで聴ける曲がほとんどでしたが、2枚目は「ファイナルに向けての序曲」のナレーションなしバージョン（つまり音楽だけ）だったので、これを聴くためだけでも購入した価値はあったと思います。アルバムとしての完成度の高さに改めて脱帽！
