Coccoの歌声を聞くと、何か夕暮れのにわか雨の匂いのような湿気を感じることが多いが、この歌では余りそのようなものは感じられない。より洗練された感じがする。だから少し物足りない気もするが、その分長く聞いても飽きない良さを持っていると思う。

　(1) ナチュラルな歌声そのままの「穏やか」曲と、(2) 生々しいギターを背にした「ヘヴィ」曲。Cocco の作風は、ほぼこの2つに大別される。当シングル「星に願いを」は (2) 後者のヘヴィ路線。但し、その中では一番美しいサウンドをしている。

　一見、星空を見上げる、美しい曲に聞こえるが、やはり詞の破滅性は健在。流れ星は「月さえも落とし」、お伽の国では「誰かが逃げ遅れた」ようだ。明けることのない闇夜は、安らかに… と歌いながら、ある種の「救い」も感じられる。ちょっと言葉で表すのが難しい曲だ。

　好き嫌いは分かれると思うが、狂気を孕んだ存在感は唯一無二。
