ウィキペディアで安全地帯のフロントマン「玉置浩二」を検索するとこのように評されている。同感。
歌唱力、作曲力の素晴らしさは世にあまねく知られているところ。しかも楽器もマルチプレーヤーの職人肌。だが、人気が伴わないのが不思議でもある。
昔聴いていた人も、このベスト盤で復習するのがよろしいのでは。

安全地帯を一枚持っておきたいのなら、この一枚です。
私がこれを買ったのは、８年も前になりますが、いまでも時々きいてます。
現実逃避し、いやなことを忘れたいときには必需品です。
まずは、いかした「じれったい」から入ります。いい感じの打ち込み音楽です。
それから「ワインレッドの心」。ブルーになります。
さらにブルーになるのは「碧い瞳のエリス」・・・「少女でいれば叱られない」ですか。いい詞です。
あるタレントが外国に留学中、３ヶ月安全地帯を聴いて暮らしたといってましたが、よくわかります。インパクトがあるのに全然聴き飽きないんです。
類いまれな作曲力です、玉置さん。声も新しい楽器みたいで・・・天才だなあ。
資本主義の不思議。こんないい物がこの値段で買えるんだから。

シングルになった曲、「微笑に乾杯」で安全地帯活動中止？になるまでのものが収録されています。とはいってもメジャーなシングルばかり。要はかなり売れたものを入れているのでしょう。これに対してIIは、もうちょっとマイナーな安全地帯(「微笑に乾杯」以降のもの含む)も入ってます。いわば、80年代の歌謡界を代表するベストです。これが出たときは貧乏な学生だった者は泣いて喜んだものです。しかし、ちょっとしたリミックスにあえて難をつけたい。「好きさ」「じれったい」「I Love You からはじめよう」がリレーするような形で繋がっています。だから「好きさ」だけ聞いていたら、最後のほうブチッと切れたりするワケです。ちゃんとフルで入れてほしかったな、といのが正直なところ。でもそれ以外は満点。選曲もいいし、安全地帯を知らなかった人も、懐かしいなあ~と思ってる人にも、満足してもらえると思います。これでもっと安全地帯が知りたくなったらベストＩＩを買えばいいんではないでしょうか。
