スタジオジブリとしては非常に珍しいTVスペシャル「海がきこえる」のサウンドトラック。音楽は、当時、日本テレビの開局40周年シンボル・キャラクター「なんだろう」のTVスポットや、同じく開局40周年テレビ・スポット「そらいろのたね」の音楽を手がけた永田茂さんです。青春物語にふさわしい、ピュアで透明感あふれる音楽に仕上がっています。特にヒロイン武藤里伽子の声を担当した坂本洋子の歌う「海になれたら」を聞けば、あなたの疲れた心もきっと癒されるでしょう。

　映画「海が聞こえる」は、高知の名門私立高校生の生徒だった主人公の「森崎拓」が、大学に進学し東京に上京したのち、ふとしたことがきっかけで、やはりそのころ、同じ高校に東京から転校してきた「武藤里伽子」のことを東京の吉祥寺駅で全くの偶然で見かける・・・そういう出だしで始まる。

　映画の舞台は、東京と、高知。「拓」の高校時代の回想が、映画の大半を占める。高知の追手筋や、高知城、土佐久礼の浜辺などの風景が、そっくりそのまま映画で再現されている。

　僕は、レンタルビデオ屋でこの映画を見、次の日にサントラのＣＤを買った。そして、「今すぐ高知に行きたい」と思い、購入したサントラＣＤと、ウォークマンと着替えをつめて、東京から高速バスで、一路高知に向かった。

　なにか嫌な事があったり、気分が落ち込んでいたり、そういうときに、この映画のサントラＣＤを良く部屋で聴く（実は今も聴いています）。自分が旅行した高知の町の雰囲気や、久礼漁港の朝の静けさや、そういったものが、この音楽を聴いていると思い出される。映画のサントラなんて、たいした事はないでしょう・・・とおっしゃられる方も多いかもしれませんが、このＣＤは、とても良い曲ばかりです。うまくいえないのですが、自分が高校生の頃の思い出が甦って来るような、そんな感じなのです。

「海がきこえる」が、拓の回想シーンが物語のベースとなっている
ため、物語が淡々と進むのと同じように、このサントラも自然と
心に染み込んでいく、という感じです。
聞いていると、拓が回想していくのと同じように、海がきこえるの
映像が浮かんできます。
拓と里佳子の再会、拓の高校時代の回想、二人きりの旅行のシーン、
豊との再会、同窓会のシーン、など、そして、高知のきれいな町並み、
拓の部屋から見える夜の海や、豊と一緒に見た夕焼けの映える海、
みんなで見上げた高知城など、海が聞こえる独特の美しい風景など。
メロディも凄くきれいで、癒される感じです。
海がきこえるファンは、ぜひ買い、でしょう。
しかも、なかなか手に入らない貴重なサントラです。

ムービーの音楽とひらべて見ると、このサントラは、とてもいい感じが出てきます。悠揚な雰囲気で高校時代のシーンも続々と浮かべて懐かしくてたまらない。
