このアルバムの曲のほとんどが、過去のFFシリーズの曲をアレンジしたものです。
そのアレンジを担当したのは、サガシリーズの作曲者の伊藤賢治氏で、
氏の特色が出た、格好いいロック調のアレンジとなっています。
FFシリーズファンならずとも充分に楽しめる1枚です。

　このサウンドトラックの収録曲のほとんどがアレンジで、太田裕美の歌うエンディング曲「心のたからばこ」のみがオリジナルとなっています。
いくつかのステージＢＧＭの例を挙げておきます。

「巨人の遺跡」……………ＦＦ３「バトル２」のアレンジ
「ミスリル鉱山」…………ＦＦ１「グルグ火山」のアレンジ
「黒の館」…………………ＦＦ２「魔道士の塔」のアレンジ
「ミシディア空中庭園」…ＦＦ５「エンドタイトル」のアレンジ
「グルグ火山」……………ＦＦ２「戦闘シーン２」のアレンジ
「幻界」……………………ＦＦ３「最後の死闘」のアレンジ
「FF８サーキット」………ＦＦ８「Don't be Afraid」のアレンジ

　収録曲のほとんどがアレンジだと書きましたが、ＦＦシリーズをまったくプレイしたことがなく、ＦＦの曲を知らない人でも楽しめる曲ばかりです。そういう人にとってはすべてが初めて耳にする曲で、新鮮な気持ちで聞くことができるでしょう。
　このソフトを遊んだ後にＦＦの作品を遊ぶと、聞いたことのある曲が使われていて楽しいです。もちろんその逆でも同じで、先にＦＦを体験したことがあり、後からこのソフトを遊ぶと、懐かしさを感じることがあるでしょう。
　タイトルにも書きましたが、まずソフトをプレイし、ＢＧＭが気に入ったらサントラを買うようにすることを強く推奨します。ソフトをプレイせず、アレンジされたことのみを目的に購入すると、期待を裏切ってしまうかもしれません。

タイトルの通り、聴いていて面白いんですけれども、“ＦＦI~VIまでの曲のアレンジ”とあるのに、VIからの選曲が一曲しかなく、しかもイントロだけだったもので、このゲームをプレイしていない私は多少がっかりしてしまいました。
でも、アレンジの仕方がすごく良くて、原曲の方と聴き比べてみたりなんかして楽しませて頂くことが出来ました。
