Experience is perhaps a rather ambitious title for this debut from German trance-makers York, as the album never reaches any substantive form of musical consciousness. The singles "OTB", "Farewell to the Moon" and "Fields of Love" are all pleasant enough, with their mix of chill-out Ibiza sounds and recent Euro-pop sensibilities but the album fails to limber up any further. "Heavy Metal" is also an affable enough track, with its subtle references to the early work of
Yello however it too meanders on aimlessly. The tracks all sound rather dated, referring back to some of the mediocre trance music of the late 1990s. The relative sedateness of "Awakening" makes it ideal for an up-tempo relaxation session, but don't expect it to get you geared up for a big night-out.
