トータル３２分という短さながら密度がかなり濃い。

YMOがセールス的に一番成功したアルバムで、のちの暴走ぶりがまったく垣間見れないほどリスナーに対するサービス精神に溢れてる。

（２）「ABSOLUTE EGO DANCE」はもろ細野さんという感じの楽しいオリエンタルなダンスミュージック。

（４）「CASTALIA」は宇宙的規模を思わせるキーボードが効いていて、子供の頃最初に聴いた時に深くて怖い印象を受けた。坂本龍一の才能はこの頃から爆発している。

（６）「DAY TRIPPER」はこんなアレンジがあるのか？というくらいビートルズの原曲とまったく違った曲になってる。痛快だ。ここで高橋幸宏の味のあるボーカルが聴ける。

このアルバムでのYMOは３人のコンビネーションが見事で、シングル（３）「RYDEEN」や(５）「BEHIND THE MASK」などメロディもキャッチーでわかりやすくポップだ。ほとんどの曲のサウンドの要になってるのが細野さんのベースだろう。よく聴いてる人はわかると思う。

しかし日本でこれだけ売れて、音楽的にも質が高く、世界的にも認められて、自由奔放にやってるアーティストって彼ら以外に何人ぐらいいるのだろうか？

陽水の「氷の世界」以降の日本の音楽界の転機になったのはYMOのソリッドだったように思う。赤い人民服、テクノカット、うぐいす色のバック、ナイスな書体のロゴ。このジャケットを目にするたびに「はぁ~~かっこええなぁ~」と思う。クリス・モスデルによる英詩もシュールでかっこいいし、なんといってもこの溢れ出る旋律の嵐には降伏するしかない。

才能のありあまっている作曲家＆演奏者たちが時代のストライクゾーンをねらい撃ち。メディアミックス手法まで駆使して時代のトレンドに。

見事時代に飲まれた私達はテクノカットに。この音楽は時代を先取りした『テクノダンスポップ』。才能のうちのほんのわずかしか使っていないのがわかり、非常におそろしい集団だった。音楽の『パワー』に対して精通しているメンバーだからなし得た奇跡。　　１０点中８点
