このバンドが一区切りを置く重要なライヴになった、パンチドランカーLIVEのベストテイクを収めたアルバム。
バンドの持ち味の野太いサウンドと、吉井さんの力強い歌声がとても魅力的。
そしてやっぱり、JAMは名曲。
またこの12曲の他に、もう1曲ライヴでお馴染みのあの曲が収録されている。
アルバムは、最後までじっくり聴こう！

ただのライヴアルバムとして聴くのはあまりにももったいない。
計113本のパンドラツアー、ツアー中に行われたメカラウロコ９の音源中から第三者が聴いたり観たりして、よかったテイクをリストアップ、またメンバーも自ら選曲、そして何度も聴き直すという作業を繰り返してできたアルバム。ライヴの内容ではなく、空気の濃いところだけを詰め込んだようです。なので、ツアー中に一回しかやってない曲も入ってるみたいです。まさにベストアルバム的なライヴアルバム。

　収録されている楽曲の中で私がもっとも魅かれたのがラストの「真珠色の革命時代」です。これは恒例コンサートであるメカラウロコからのライブテイクなのですが、楽曲を彩るバンドサウンドとラストを飾るオーケストラの融合感がまるでこのＣＤを聴いている自分を会場内にトリップさせてくるかのような熱さを感じさせてくれます。吉井さんの切実でまっすぐな歌声も聴き応えありで、もうオリジナルのＣＤバージョンとは比べ物にならないほどの音像と詞が持つドラマチックな世界観をこれでもかと言わんばかりに味わえました。どこの洋楽アーティストと対バンさせても絶対負けはしないだろうという力強さを感じます。
　「パンチドランカー」収録の楽曲たちも観客達とのやり取りで生き生きと歌われています。特に「ゴージャス」はライブのためにこそ生まれた楽曲だと思えるほど荒々しさと熱を放出しまくってます。「ＪＡＭ」もＣＤ版にはないコール＆レスポンスで力強いロックナンバーへと生まれ変わっており、神がかったようなカッコよさに満ちてます。こういったことからイエローモンキーはライブにおいて真の魅力を味わえるアーテストなのだと実感しますね。
