どこかの批評で「力んでいる割には詩に具体性がなく観念的」とか
何とか書かれてましたが、
だからこそこの曲は、方向がわからずもやもやしていて
それでいてこれまでの日常とは違う「大きな何か」を
大口を開けながら待ち望んでいるような、あの年頃が持つ
感性の底深さをそのまま表現できているように思えるのです。

おそらく、この曲が好きな人は、尖ったメロディやサウンドではなく
曲が持つ背景の温度に魅せられているのではないだろうか？
暑苦しいくせにシニカル。尖っているくせにポップ。
まさに、あの当時のミスチルでしか発見のできなかった境地が
鳴り響いていると思う。とても懐のでかい、大きな曲だ。

初めて聴いた時は正直あんまりだなぁと思ってました。なにかメロディに違和感があって。でも聴きこむにつれ徐々に詞が響きだした。 これは愛の歌です。といっても幸せで満たされているのではなく、愛するからこそ生まれる苦しみが歌われた曲。 求めれば求めるほど傷つく。それでもやっぱり求めてしまう。そんなジレンマの出口を探す、という歌のように思います。
とても疾走感があり、それがまた出口を探すことの必死さを表現しているようにも思いました。
痛々しくて生々しい曲ですが、こういう想いを言葉にして歌ってくれると救われます。

発表当時、桜井さんが「ミスチル最高傑作」と豪語しただけあって、とてつもない完成度になっています。
しかし、この人の創作意欲っていうか、作曲の才能というのは、まったく底が知れませんね。
コード理論を簡単に飛び越える天性のメロディーセンス。
「僕はつい」が唄われる時、リスナーはいとも簡単に音楽の世界に落ちてしまうんです。
そこからはもう、考えても仕方がありません。頭より先に心が反応してしまってるから。
諦めてメロディーの波に耳を委ねましょう。

そして、サウンドも素晴らしい！特にJENのドラムス！
波打つような、そして微妙にリズムが変わる時があるんですが、
計算でしょうね、そこにとてつもない快感を覚えます。
他の2人にも言える事ですが、特にJENのこのバンドで果たす役割の重要性を感じさせられた曲です。

カップリングですが、おもいっきりフォークです。なんの衒いもない、
純然たるフォーク。
