当時、WANDSが解体を発表したときに出されたベストアルバム。
1、2、3期とバランスよく分けられて、曲が収録されているので、
これから、WANDSを知りたい方には、一番おすすめできるアルバムだと思います。
また、このアルバムには、未発表曲「太陽のため息」と言うのが収録されており、
この曲は、「WORST CRIME」以上に、上杉の心の葛藤が表れています。

思えばWANDSがデビューした頃は所謂BZ・ZARDを筆頭としてDEEN・REV・ZEEG等の織田哲郎をバックに或いはビーグラムレコード社を母体としたバンドが大隆盛を極めていた「ビーイングブーム」のはしりの時代だった。９０年代中期以降の「小室ブーム」に取って代わる前までは常にこの集団がチャートを賑わせていた。WANDSもまたこれらの集団の枠に入る存在だった。

これらの集団は音楽が画一的な傾向があるという批評もあったのは確かだけれど、全体として言える事は洋楽には無い邦楽独特のキャッチ―でメロディアスなメロディーが多く存在し、難なく人々を魅了する楽曲ばかりが存在したのは確かで、私もまた釘付けにされた。

当時私は自分だけだと思うが、やたらとTBOLANとWANDSと重ね合わせていた。同時代に同じように大ヒットを重ねていたせいもあるだろうが、バンドとしての形態や同じくビーイングブームの立役者だったせいもあるだろう。細かく言うとTBOLANはほぼフルバンド形式でWANDSは３人編成＋サポートメンバーという違いはあったが。ただTBOLANの方はハスキーな声で良い意味で重々しい感じの楽曲に仕上がっていた印象があったが、対してWANDSは比較的キーの高い曲でアップテンポでシンセ等を多用した印象があった。

TBOLANは解散まで同じメンバーで通してきたが、WANDSは何度もメンバーチェンジを繰り返してきた邦楽界でも異色のバンドだった。ただ３人の変則性から始まったバンドだからこそこのような融通の聞いたチェンジもできたのかもしれない。

というわけで、前期~中期~後期と楽曲も多少変わっているのは単に時代の変化だでではないのは頷けるだろう。実際私は後半の曲はあまり知らない曲が多いが、これを期に「WANDSにしてWANDSにあらず」時代も含め一気にこのようなベスト盤で振り帰るのも良いだろう。

結成から解散までめまぐるしくメンバーチェンジをしたこのバンド。
解散時にはオリジナルメンバーは一人もいなかった。
しかしそのサウンドは９０年代を代表するもの。
93年にはゴールドディスク大賞を取ったバンドなだけはある。
耳にした人も多い曲が数多く収録されている。
