とにかく、ＤＩＳＣ-２に尽きる。はっきり言うと、ＤＩＳＣ-１はほとんど聴かない。ウッドストックのラスト・ステージということもあって、客があまり乗ってこず、ジミもイマイチ本領を発揮できずにいるからだ。しかし、ここからがジミの凄いところなのだが、ほとんど残っていない観客を、未知の領域にまで連れて行くのだ。やたら暴力的な「ファイア」を経て、「ブードゥー・チャイル」そして、伝説の域に達している「星条旗よ永遠なれ」と続く流れは、何度聴いても鳥肌が立つ。ギターという楽器を、完全に自分の音楽に奉仕させている。ある意味で、僕にとってのロックはこの数十分に集約される。ＤＶＤも必見。
