私はこのアルバムを、だいぶ前に母親から借りて聴きました。今もこのアルバムを聴きながらレビューを書いています。実は私が邦楽に興味を持ったのはこのアルバムがきっかけでした。それからサザンを含む色々なアーティストの曲を聴くようになったのです。

このアルバムは、収録曲が全体としてまったりした湘南の雰囲気を体現しているようで、聴いていて非常に落ち着けます。癒されると言ってもいいかもしれません。リラックスできるんです。

しかし一方で、『希望の轍』や『LOVE AFFAIR』と言ったややテンションの高い名曲も収録されており、そちらはそちらでまた別の愉しみを見つけ出すことができます。

また、バラッドと銘打つだけあって、バラード系の曲も充実しています。個人的に好きな曲は『逢いたくなった時に君はここにいない』、『素敵な夢を叶えましょう』などです。物悲しくなると同時に、はじめに書いたように、どこか落ち着けるのです。

もう一つ付け加えると、これはサザンのどのアルバムにもいえることですが、この値段でこれだけの曲が聴けるというのは非常にお買い得です。他のアーティストなら、これだけの曲を聴こうとすれば優に倍の値段はかかります。サザンの皆さんの、商売よりもファンの方々に曲を聴かせたいんだ！という思いが伝わってくるようです。
このアルバムを聴いて、皆さんに合った曲を見つけてください。

サザンのラブソングはどれも良い曲ばかりですが、特に良い！と思ったのが「真夏の果実」です。サザンの美しいバラードの最高峰だと思います。何度聴いても、つい聴き入ってしまう・・・そんな曲です。

　サザンのバラード曲を集めた「バラッド・シリーズ」の第３作目。2000年、「TSUNAMI」の大ヒットを受けて、ここぞとばかりのタイミングで発売された。「TSUNAMI」によるライトユーザーの定着を図る為の１枚なのかもしれない。なお、「TSUNAMI」はオリジナルアルバムには収録されず、アルバム中で聴けるのは今のところ「バラッド３」のみである。
　このベスト盤を聴くと、やはりサザンの本懐は、そのバラードにあると再認識する。もともとシングルのB面のみの収録だった「冷たい夏」も、ファンの声援によって収録される運びとなった。「BLUE HEAVEN」や「唐人物語〜ラシャメンの歌〜」といった、アルバム「さくら」収録の名曲が再評価されているのも、個人的には嬉しい限り。
　ただ、「海のYeah!」と収録曲が少なからず重複しているのが残念。
