   50年代、ピアニストのデイヴ ・ブルーベックと、アルトサックス奏者のポール・デスモンドは、ジャズを広めようと全米のカレッジを回り、学生たちから幅広い人気を得た。そのコンビが、当時流行った変拍子ジャズを取りあげたのがこのアルバムである。
   特にジャズとしてはめずらしい5拍子の曲『テイク・ファイブ』がそのエキゾチックな曲想もあって一躍ヒットし、後年わが国のTV-CFにまで取りあげられるようになったのはご存知の方もあると思う。白人ミュージシャンらしく几帳面にリズムを取るブルーベックと、これまた白人らしい端正ながら流麗なアルト・サックスの組み合わせは、初めてジャズを聴くファンにもアンサンブルの様子が的確に聴きとれ、入門アルバムとしては最適だろう。（後藤雅洋）

定番中の定番。やはり外せません。
「Taka Five」はもちろんですが、アルバムとして通して聞いたときにその威力が倍増。
美味しくお酒が飲めますよ。
大好きなアルバムです。

テイク・ファイヴは有名な曲だが、何度聴いても新鮮な気持ちにさせてくれる不思議な曲だ。
ストレンジ・メドウ・ラークやキャシーズ・ワルツは、夜景を見ながら洒落た会話を楽しみたくなる。

お行儀の良いプレイだと言われがちの彼らだが、安定感こそが、このカルテットの魅力なのかもしれない。

小生はジャズ初心者です。本CDを購入したのはポールデズモンドが演奏に加わっていたからです。
彼のTake Tenは大好きですが、その原点であるTake Fiveがあるなんて.......、ついぞ知りませんでした。全体に初心者でもスムーズにそしてリラックスして楽しめる演奏だと思います。
こうした演奏のCDをもっと知りたいと思います。
