憂歌団というグループ自体は随分以前から知っていたのですが、その歌となると、正直、馴染めませんでした。そんな時、知人から勧められてこのベストを聴いたところ、はまってしまいました。
同じ"憂歌団"にしても、ずいぶんと後期の、いわば"洗練された"憂歌団さが(私には)よかったのだと思います。
"大阪ビッグリバーブルース"、カラオケに行くと探してしまいます(^^;。同じ関西弁での"悲しい色やね(上田正樹)"とついつい比較してしまいますが、少しぎこちないこころを訥々と伝えるこちらの歌詞の方が好きだったりします。

「大阪ソウルバラード」なるアルバムの中で憂歌団の曲を発見、久し振りにじっくり聞いてみました。本作はフォーライフ移籍後、83年の「リラックス デラックス」~90年の「Good time's rollin'」からの選曲。伊藤銀次プロデューサー時代のアコースティックな曲から康珍化時代のロック風の曲の中から主にアコースティックな曲を中心にチョイスしてある。胸が張り裂けるような切ない男心を歌った根強い人気のある、｢1｣、冒頭に触れた｢12｣等、お酒片手に初秋の夕刻に聴くと心地良いかも。もちろん、初期の代表作｢6｣~｢9｣もライブバージョン等形を変えて収録、放送コードに抵触しそうな部分はさり気なく処理。彼らの数あるベスト版（と言っても曲はかなり重なる）の中では、まとまっていてGood。個人的に新鮮だったのは、シングルのＢ面で手にする機会がなく、初めて聴いた｢5｣。

憂歌（憂えう歌）、すなわちブルースである、「パチ（ティ）ンコ」「おそうじオバちゃん」などジョークまじりの大阪らしさが憂歌団の特長だ、だが、それ以上に「ブルースらしさ」を感じる。
解散してしまったので伝説のバンドとなってしまったが、テクニック、演出、ライブでの楽しさは特筆ものだった。

J-POPS全盛の時代にこそ、こういうバンドに残って欲しかったのだが・・・
