ジャズの渡辺貞夫がフュージョン界へ一歩踏みだした記念すべき作品。
バックに、若きリー・リトナーをはじめ、デイブ・グルーシン、チャック・レイニー、ハーヴィー・メイソンといった一流セッションメンを従えて、最高の演奏を聴かせてくれる。
タイトル曲は名曲中の名曲。

今にして思えば毎回ﾚｳﾞｪﾙの高いLIVEを届けてくれた何とも得難い番組
だった。よくｴｱﾁｪｯｸしては聴いていたものだった。
（確か本人がTV-CMにも出た関係か化粧品の○×堂の提供だったはず）
そのｴﾝﾃﾞｨﾝｸﾞにいつもMy Dear Lifeが流れていて、知らず知らずに
心に沁みついてしまった感がある。それにしても良い曲ですよね。
この1曲だけでも買う価値があると真剣に思う。
競演陣も今では考えられない豪華な顔ぶれで、これじゃあ
悪いはずが無い、てなくらいのもの。
ﾌｭｰｼﾞｮﾝ寄りのJAZZがお好きな方には堪えられない銘盤。

'70s末からの一大フュージョン・ムーブメントの火付け役であり、リーダー的位置にもいた渡辺貞夫氏(fl、ss、etc..)の'77年作品。
フュージョンというカテゴリが(後年になって)"技術至上主義"だとか"軟派/無刺激"といった悪しき誤解を受けるに至ったのは、それこ、そそれら言葉を甘んじて受け入れなければならないような二束三文的な音がムーブメントに便乗して氾濫したからなのかも知れません。
ですが、本質的にフュージョンの言葉が示すものは"融合"であり、演奏技術を必要以上にひけらかす事でも、表面的な気持ちのいい音を追求するだけのものでもなかったはずです。
本作は氏のフュージョン期の作品ですが、東洋的な響きに導かれて始まる[1]や、若き日の'70年モントルージャズフェスで演じたこともある[3]など、技巧がどうのこうのではなく、ジャズから更に踏み出した新しい音楽としての表現を求める氏のバイタリティーが溢れています。アフリカン/ブラジリアン・ミュージックやそのリズムへの傾倒もあった氏であるからこそのアイデンティティがそこに詰まっています。
当時、米での同ムーブメントを支えたリー・リトナー(g)、デイヴ・グルーシン(key、p)、ハービー・メイソン(ds)等など、渡辺氏のアイディアが本当にフュージョンした一作かと思います。
