'79年発表のルネッサンス通算8枚目のアルバム。デビュー作から前作までに見られた大作は影をひそめ全曲小曲で構成されている。ドラマティックな大作

がウリのルネッサンスにおいては少々陰の薄いアルバムとの印象もあるが、小曲になっても前作までの雰囲気を保ちつつ各曲の完成度は高く、曲のアレンジもこのバンドらしくポップでありながら非常に気品溢れるものになっている。そしてなによりもアニーの声はプログレというジャンルを超えて聞くもの全てに訴えかけるものがある。とりわけこのアルバムではポップで聞きやすくなったのとあわせてより一層幅広い音楽ファンにアピールするのではないかと思う。

７９年発表の８作目。ワーナー時代の３作は良い意味でポップ化して、楽曲もコンパクトにまとまっているため、誰にお薦めしても納得していただける名品揃いだと思う。明るめのトーンとアニーの美しいヴォーカル、クラシックとフォークをポップに消化した演奏は文句の付けようがない。彼女達の音楽はかろうじてプログレに含まれるだろうが、この作品はもはやクラシカルなアレンジを施したポップスと言い切っても良いと思う。そしてそのポップスという意味では４．と７．はグループとしての結晶とも言える名曲であり、そういう意味においてもこの作品はルネッサンスを聞く上で絶対に外せない作品だと断言できる。もちろんポップスと呼ぶには語弊があるほどのシンフォニックなアレンジであり、メロディ展開の素晴しさは他のルネッサンスの名曲群を凌ぐほどである。いや凌いでいると思う。もちろんその他の曲も名曲揃いであり、１．はルネッサンスの魅力を凝縮したかのような素晴しい展開をコンパクトに聞かせる素晴しい曲であり、３．では中世的なアレンジの中で男性陣が頑張っている。トータルとしての完成度もすこぶる高く、聞いた後の満足感が違う。ルネッサンスの代表作の一つだと思う。
