   ジャズの本場はアメリカ。そのため、アメリカ以外の国では、まずアメリカのジャズを模倣するところからすべては始まった。日本もそうだったし、ヨーロッパの場合も同様だ。
   しかし例外もあった。それがジャンゴ・ラインハルト。ジャンゴはヴァイオリンのステファン・グラッペリと34年に結成したフランス・ホット・クラブ5重奏団によって有名になったが、その演奏にはアメリカのジャズにはないオリジナリティがあり、デューク・エリントンをはじめとするアメリカのミュージシャンたちからも絶賛された。フランス・ホット・クラブ5重奏団はオール弦楽器のクインテットで、編成もサウンドもヨーロッパ独自のものだったのである。ジャンゴが始めた独自のジャズはその後、後輩たちに引き継がれ、ジプシー・スウィングという名で広く演奏されている。これは30~40年代の代表的な演奏を集めた作品。一聴それとわかる哀愁を帯びたメロディックな演奏が個性的だ。なおジョン・ルイスが作曲した人気曲「ジャンゴ」はいうまでもなく、このジャンゴを指している。（市川正二）

ヤケドにより左手の薬指と小指の麻痺を負うが、その後もう特訓により、ジプシージャズというジャンルを確立したことで知られているジャンゴ・ラインハルト。彼の表現力豊かなインプロビゼージョンは今なおミュージシャンを刺激する、、、。
このCDはジャンゴの才能と、感性の豊かさに気付かされるCDです。

ジャズ好きには必聴の価値ありです。

仕方がないこととはいえ、他のものと比べてもキツイ。
LP特有のノイズ、音割れ、ゆがみが酷く、音量も小さい。
とはいえ、しばらく聞いてるとソレもまた味と思えてきてしまうのだが。
好きなら気にすんな！ってとこかな

ジャンゴ・ラインハルトとステファン・グラッペリのコンビのモデルは一説にはエディ・ラングとジョー・ヴィヌッテイと云われております。
（1920年代後半アメリカで活躍、ギタリストのエディ・ラングは扁桃腺の手術で若くして他界）本人達も参考にしたと言っておりましたが、音源が古いとか、傷がどうのこうのは二の次、圧巻はマイナー・ブルース、ジミヘンの誕生を予感させる演奏、いや、ジミヘン以上かも知れません。まあ、比較対象より、ジャンゴの魂を感じて下さい。
