'80年代後半から得意なリフ・ワークでもってバンド・サウンドを特徴付けていたマンニ・シュミット(G)がバンドを離脱
したのは日本公演直後の'93年。
バンド内で重要な位置を占めていたプレイヤー＆ソングライターの脱退だったためRAGEがどのような道を辿るかに注目が

集まったが、RAGEは2人のギター・プレイヤーをバンドに迎え入れて4人編成で新たなスタートを切った。
本作は'95年にリリースされた新生RAGEの第1弾アルバム。

サウンドの感触としてこれまでのRAGEサウンドに顕著だったコード進行やメロディの異様さは薄れ、オーソドックスな
パワー・メタルに少々RAGEのフレイヴァーをまぶしたような感じになっている。

そんな中にギラリと光る叙情的なメロディ・センスが随所に現れているのはさすが。
"Crawling chaos"と"Sent by the devil"は普遍的な魅力を持った名曲だ。

これまでのRAGEとはちと違うが、これまた優れたアルバムである。
