やはりジャズ・ロックのコンテキストでは秀でていると思うバイオリニスト、ジャン・リュック・ポンティの'77年作品。
Atranticレーベル時代、特に'70s中期から後期にかけての一連の作品群は、時代が欲していた音にも非常にマッチングしており、ジャズ・ロックが隆盛を極めた時にあってJ.リュック.ポンティの名声が確立された事も頷けます。
本作でもドラマティックに変化する組曲形式、深く広く響き渡るJ.リュック.ポンティのヴァイオリンはもとより、超絶技巧派の雄、アラン・ホールズワース(g)や、ジェネシスでおなじみのダリル・ステューマー(g)のツートップによるギターもかなりファンを喜ばせる要因になっています。
そして個人的なポイントとしてプッシュしたい点は、dsに座っているスティーヴ・スミス。後年、ジャーニーへの参加やVital Informationの立ち上げなどで名を馳せるプレーヤーですが、本当にそのドラムセンスは素晴らしいと思います。これだけダイナミックに叩きながら、J.リュック.ポンティの目指す幻想的なイメージを崩す事なくテンションを維持させている。そのキーがここにあるのではないでしょうか。
