CDとしてはまずまずです。演奏はトリロジーシリーズではおなじみの「ロイヤル・スコティッシュ・オーケストラ」。指揮は「フリー・ウィリー3」や「スター・トレックVI/未知の世界」で音楽を担当したクリフ・エデルマン。
映画自体があまり明るくない「エイリアン」なのでCD全体通して暗めの印象です。

まず「エイリアン1」は７曲入っております(オリジナルサントラ未収録部分あり!)。そして「エイリアン2・3」は3曲づつです。

エイリアンの音楽担当は先日お亡くなりになったジェリー・ゴールドスミス氏。そして「エイリアン2」の担当はタイタニックでアカデミー賞を受賞したジェームズ・ホーナー氏。「エイリアン3」は最近では「S.W.A.T.」「フリーダ」や「バットマン＆ロビン/Mr.フリーズの逆襲」で音楽を担当したエリオット・ゴールデンサール氏です(このCDはエイリアン1~3までしか入っていないがエイリアン4はダンテズ・ピークやブラック・ダイヤモンドのジョン・フリッゼル氏)。
「エイリアン」シリーズは全作音楽担当が違うので(監督も全作違う。主演だけ同じ)作風の違いなどいろいろ楽しめるところがありました(楽しめるのはマニアだけかも・・)。

ちなみに上記「CDジャーナル」のレビューで「ただライナーの解説,オビ無くしたら誰が書いたかわからんゾ~。」となっていますが解説はサントラの解説ではおなじみの賀来卓人氏です。
