ライオネル・ハンプトン全盛期の１９４７年、
カリフォルニアのシビック・オーディトリウムで開かれた
オールスター・バンドをバックにしたコンサートのライブ盤です。
ハンプトンが演奏に参加しているのは「スターダスト」一曲。

ところがこの一曲の演奏が凄い。
各人がユーモラスで芸達者なソロを終えたどん尻に登場する
ハンプトンのソロは、圧巻！

ジャズは崩し字の音楽。どうやってスターダストのメロディーを
崩していくかをお楽しみ下さい。
この演奏を聞いても、面白く感じない方は、
以降、ジャズを聞かなくても良いでしょう。
スリリングでユーモラスで立板に水のソロ、
これがジャズの楽しさなんです。
