　Emperorというと、すぐ放火や殺人の話を持ち出す人がいますが、そんなエピソードを抜きにしても音楽のクオリティだけで十分に、いや十分過ぎる程存在感を示すことのできるバンドだと思います。

　このアルバムは、Emperorの作品の中でも一番高い次元で暴虐と叙情の融合がなされており、過去の作品よりもサウンドプロダクションがしっかりしていてると思うので、個人的にはEmperorの作品の中で一番好きです。

　過激なエピソードだけでEmperorを敬遠している人は結構いるんじゃないかと思いますが（僕もそうでした）、凡百のブラック・メタルバンドはおろか、多くのHMバンドすら到底及びそうにない完成度の高い音楽は、あなたの価値観を根底からひっくり返してしまうかも知れません。

裏ジャケ・・・（'ー｀；）

2ndの空気感のある（ハッキリした）音とは違い、
やや誇張ですがこのアルバム「暑苦しい」ですよ。あと取っ掛かりがものすごく悪い。音圧が高すぎるのも一因。これでは一般的なブラックメタラーに非難されるのも分かります。しかし、逆にデスメタラーも兼ねていて、スウェディッシュ系のちょっとデスっぽい音源が好きなら十分すぎる価値があります。自分はかなりお気に入りです。

過去２作がブラックメタルの歴史的名作であったので、本作では大いに失望した。まず音質が非常にクリアになり禍々しい邪悪な雰囲気が薄れたこと。そして各楽曲の個性の無さ。似たような曲ばかりでアルバム全部を聴くのは少々苦痛。確かに質の良いエクストリーム音楽であるとは思いますが、この時点でエンペラーも終わったな、というのが正直な乾燥。まあ、メンバーのアーティストとしての考え方も時とともに変わるはずなのでしょうがないですね。
