北欧独特のリズム、メロディを生かしたハードロックバンド。勇ましい戦士の旅立ちを感じさせる12や、美しく物哀しいバラッド38、それ以外にもコミカルな曲やクラッシックをイメージしたものなど、ハードロックの枠とらわれず様々な旋律に挑戦する意気込みが感じられる。全てメロディラインがしっかりしており、個人的に好きな曲が６曲もあるので☆５ツとした。ハードロックファンには是非聴いて欲しい１枚である。

「幻の名盤」という評価自体が幻だった・・・？
９６年にCD化されるまで幻の名盤として語られていたらしいビスカヤの１STです。
期待しすぎると肩透かしを喰らうか恐れがありますのでので初期の北欧メタルを知る上での参考音源程度として聴くと良いのかもしれません。
雑誌等で名曲されるバラード「サマー・ラブ」も悪くはありませんが、でも名曲として勧められるかというと「？」です。私の評価は「普通」程度ですが、現在まで語り継がれているということを考えれると聴き手の好みによっては・・・名盤という評価もできるかも？皆さんはいかがですか？

かのヨハンソン兄弟と同時代（'84）に北欧からデビューしたバンドのアルバムである。
決してアルバムのすべての曲が良いとは言い難いが、
1)HOWL IN THE SKY、3)SUMMERLOVEはメタル史上に残る超名曲であるし、
2)FOOLSや6)SINGING IN HARMONYなどは、
DEEP PURPLEやURIAH HEEPなど'70年代ロックに通じるギターとキーボードのバトルが面白い。
またキーボードが'80年代ロックを反映してか、
初期のVAN HALENに似てるのは気のせいか？？
いずれにせよ、北欧メタルを語る上では間違いなく外せない1枚であろう。
