91年の『レジャー』から99年の『13』まで、計6枚のアルバムからの17曲に、新曲“ミュージック・イズ・マイ・レーダー”を収録した、ブラー初のベスト・アルバム。とにかく、あらためて驚かされるのがそのヒット曲の多さで、どの曲も耳馴染みの名曲というのも凄いが、それも全曲が全英チャートでトップ20を記録していると聞けば、納得せざるを得ない。
ヒット曲を出すこと、それはある意味でポップ・バンドであることの存在証明のようなものだが、10年間にわたってコンスタントにヒット曲を産み続けてきたという事実の持つ意味は重い。その歴史の中でさまざまな試行錯誤を経ながら、彼らはサウンド面でも着実に成長し、遂には『13』でポップ・バンドからの脱皮をも目論んだ。その意味で本作は、ポップ・バンドで居続けることは、実は先鋭的でなければならないことも教えてくれる。昨年12月にロンドンで収録した、限定ライヴCDも、ファンには嬉しいプレゼントだ。 (保科好宏) --- 2000年11月号

｢ポップバンド｣この言葉がこれほど似合うバンドは他に無いと思う。時代とともに変化するのがバンドであり、ミュージシャンだと思う。しかし、ブラーのようにリスナーの要求を否定し、自分たちの音楽を作っているバンドは少ない。

97年｢無題｣で見事に音楽性を変化させたが、このベストを聞くとそれ以後と以前の曲を続けて聞いても、さほど違和感を感じさせないことに驚かされる。どれもブラーでしかなしえない音楽がなっている。もちろん、全曲が最高水準のポップソングで決して色あせていない。

ＢＬＵＲは好きだけど、｢ブリットポップ｣時代は好きになれないとか、｢無題｣以降のＢＬＵＲは合わないと思っている人が聞くと新たな発見があるはず。それに、入門用としても聞きやすい。

90年代のイギ!リスロックへの影響は、明らかにオアシスよりもブラーによるものの方が大きいと思う。世紀は変わり、グレアム(g)が脱退しても、ブラーを信じたくさせる。やっぱり、デーモンは天才だ！

ある程度キャリアの長いアーティストが作るベスト盤。でも、ホントに満足行くベスト盤を作るのはとても難しいと思います。ただ、ヒット曲を並べただけ、とか、肝心の曲が入ってない、とか。特に熱烈なファンなら、ベスト盤には満足しないんじゃないかな。

で、オレはその、熱烈なブラーファンです。それでも、このアルバムには大満足。数あるベスト盤の中で、オレが、「うん、これはベストだ」って言えるのは２枚しかありません。（ちなみにもう１枚は、ブルーハーツのライブ盤ベスト「ALL SOLD OUT」）

つまり、これさえ持ってれば、他のブラーのアルバムは買わなくてもオッケーって事です。（ただし、「１３」は、別の話ですが）
このアルバムがよくないってんなら、あなたにブラーは向いてないと思われます。あしからず。

このCDではBLURのシングル曲を各アルバムからバランスよく聴けます。さらにLIVE版のほうに収録しきれなかったシングルが収録されているので、ブラーのシングルの大半を聴けます。イギリスを代表するロックバンド、ブラーのビートを聴いてください！
