なんつっても、ラストを締めくくる"to be alive again"に、
すべてが凝縮されていると言えるだろう。俺はそう感じた。
まるで飛び跳ねるような、ジョナサンの軽快なピアノが特徴的だ。
ニールのギター、スティーブのボーカル、ロスのベース、ディーンのドラム、
これらもジョナサンに劣らず、ノリにノッて突っ走っている。

バンドがぴったり一つにまとまっている感じだ。
爽やかな日差しの下を、最高にいい気分で駆け抜けていくような、疾走感。
ライナーノーツにも書いてあったが、ライブでやったら、
お客総立ちでめちゃめちゃ盛り上がるだろうなあ。
もちろん他の楽曲もジャーニーらしい作品がそろっている。
が、この一曲で十分元が取れると俺は思う。

文句なしのおすすめアルバムである。

メロディ派なら買って損なしでしょう。特にジョナサン・ケイン大活躍です。ハラード2、9、ハードポップな3は秀逸。必聴。特に捨て曲も見当たりません。 セールス的にパッとしなかったので、スティーヴペリーじゃないので、等の理由で過少評価されているみたいですが改めて聴いても過去の名作にも引けをとらない名盤だと思います。

ボーカルがSTEVE AUGERIに変わりましたが、
その点は問題はないと思います。
全盛期のSTEVE PERRYほどのハスキーさはないにしても、
ジャーニーのボーカルとして十分歌えていると思います。
このアルバムは最初の３曲（かっこいいロックチューン1、
らしいバラード2、3）はいいのですが、
後がいまいち続かないな、と感じてしまいました。
バラードが多いのは前作と同様ですが、
バラードではない曲もミディアムテンポなので、
聴いていてもう少しメリハリが欲しいな、と感じました。
個人的にはアップテンポのボーナストラック14
（ボーナスにはもったいないくらいの曲だと思います）
のような曲が本編に入っていたりすれば印象も違っていたのでは？
と思いました（輸入版はそうなってるみたいですね）。
