ロックという概念はほんまに難しいんですが、具体的な例で考えたらこのシンディ･ローパーこそロックっぽい見本みたいな気がしている。当時人気を競ったマドンナと比べてもやっぱりシンディはロック人間だと思う。そのシンディの不朽の名作がこれであります。ヒット曲満載。どれから聞いてもすんなり入り込めます。結果的に売上も大きく、このおかげで名前が永遠に残ることになった不朽の名盤。今でもよく聞きますね。それとジャケット写真がもう抜群。誰が考えたのでしょうかね。シンディの個性と特徴をよく捕まえていると思います。まだ持っていない人は即買ってください。一家に一枚必需品でおます。

高校生の時にはじめてきいてから　ずっとテープを大事に聴いてきました
ショップに行っては探すのだけれど見つからずテープがいつ切れてしまうか
どきどきでした　でもやっと手に入れました　このアルバムは最高！
全部大好き　シンディーローパー最高！！

売れました。当時マドンナと張ってたところがあったような気もしますが、自然体で音楽的なキャリアも長いはずの彼女を応援したい！松田聖子とマドンナってダブりますが、エンタテイメントというより気持ちのいいやりたい音楽を正直に伝えるある意味の愚直さがあったというイメージで一線を画していると思います。
一方、ポップスを極めたかったはずの彼女、拘りがある中での名曲ぞろい。すでにマイルス、タック＆パティもカヴァーしたスタンダード“TIME AFTER TIME”を始め、パンクにも興じていた彼女の趣味も感じられる中、捨て曲なく一気に聴ける作品。シングルチャートにも登場した曲も多い中、そうでない曲も非常にいい！まさにガールズポップ、可愛いんですよね、曲が。辛辣な歌詞も多く、その意味でのメッセージ、拘りが感じられます。単なるポップじゃないっていうのがタイトルのメッセージですし、こんなの歌っていいのかって歌詞もあります。
質素なんだけどしっかり伝えたい、という一貫した彼女のスタンスがすでに感じられる一枚、'80'sに興じてみたい方は一聴して損なし。この絶妙の軽さもある意味で時代。肩の力抜いて楽しもうという雰囲気がとっても良く伝わります。構えて聴くタイプの作品ではないかもしれませんが、とてもいい気持ちにさせてくれますよ！バラードも切なくていいです。音楽ってこういうもんかなあなんて少し耽ってしまうのは私だけではないはずです。
