フランス語なんて全くわかりませんが、この人の音楽が素晴らしい事はわかります。
アフリカ系フランス人シンガー、Teteが2001年に発表した1stアルバムです。

アコースティック・ギターの響きを中心に、ソウルフルな歌声を聴かせてくれます。
この手の音でいうと、去年ブレイクしたRaul Midonが思い浮かびますが、コンポーザーとしての才能はTeteの方が上でしょう。
そう言ってしまう程、楽曲はとてもバラエティに富んでおり、アルバム１枚を余裕で聴かせてしまいます。
ブルーグラスやＡＯＲの影響を感じさせながらも、渋いだけでは終わらせない天性のポップ・センスを発揮しています。

また所謂サーフ・ミュージックの界隈とも異なるのは、やはり黒人特有と言ってしまってもいい”リズムのハネ具合”ではないかと思います。
少ない音数の中でも色彩が豊かに感じるのはここがポイントではないでしょうか。
Tr.-3,6,9,10は特に親しみやすく、ライブ映えする曲だといえます。

元気を出したい時や、リラックスしたい時、
こんな優しく楽しいポップ・ミュージックはいかがでしょう？

何気に手に取り『フランスかぁ。どんなだろ？』と何の期待もせずに購入したアルバムなんですが聞いてみてビックリ！繊細でいて大胆なメロディでセンスが光ります。なんてゆうんだろうな？フランス語とこの人の音楽とこの人の声とのなんともいえない融合感がすごくいい！
印象的には３年程前にはじめてジャックジョンソンを聴いた時と同じような感じを受けました。音楽はジャックとは違ってもっと都会的ですがなんとなく似た部分を感じました。うまく言えんけど。
なんにせよ一度お試しあれ。

このアルバムの後に出た”A la faveur de l'automne”ほど有名ではありませんが、こちらはこちらの良さがあります。
全体的にアフリカンな雰囲気があって明るいです。
リズミカルで陽気な歌が多いので、聴いてて気分が乗ってきます。
最後にはビートルズのカバー曲が入ってます。TETEさんの英語の発音もいいです。
全体的に同じように聴こえてしまうので星４つ。
でも明るく楽しい曲ばかりで、持ってて損はないです。
