もう半世紀以上を唄い続けている一人の歌い手として、音楽の枠を超越して、味わえる一枚だと言えるのではないでしょうか。実際の録音は1950~60年代のものが中心に構成されていますが、結果的に今も尚歌い続けている人、グレコの若い頃の歌声。シャンソンに興味のない人でも、フランスに旅する人や、フランス語の勉強をする人にも是非お奨めしたい！理屈ではない感覚的に感じる、美しいフランス語に、ため息ものです。世界のグレコの魅力を是非この一枚で。保存版としてもお奨めです。

マーキュリーフォーエバーコレクションとして
２０００年に発売されたジュリエット･グレコのベスト盤。
同シリーズとしてバルバラ、イヴ･モンタンも発売されており、
優れた選曲とプレスで好評のシリーズです。

さて、ジュリエット･グレコですが、
彼女は１９２７年モンペリエ生まれ。
１５才の時、活動家だった母が姉と共に収容所に入れられ
以来、自活を余儀なくされます。

１８才の時、サルトルを始めとした実存主義者たちの溜まり場
となっていたバー「タブー」が大きく報道され、出入りしていた
ジュリエット･グレコにもスポットが当たり始めます。

キャバレーで歌い始めたのを皮切りに１９５１年には
ドーヴィルのシャンソン･コンクールでエディット･ピアフ賞を
獲得します。翌年本作品にも入っている「ロマンス」により
ＡＣＣディスク大賞をとり歌手として不動の地位を得ました。

そんなジュリエット･グレコの珠玉のベストアルバム。
説明の必要もない有名曲ばかり。

グレコさんは、人間の喜怒哀楽の全てを、優しく、誰にでもわかりやすく表現しています。もう１００回以上聞いていますが、彼女の歌を聞くたびに、「人間」についての新たな発見があり飽きることがありません。死ぬまでにあと２００回は聞くでしょうね。
