昭和２４年、１２歳の時に「悲しき口笛」をヒットさせて以来、「東京キッド」「越後獅子の唄」「私は街の子」「ひばりの花売娘」「リンゴ追分」「お祭りマンボ」という代表作を立て続けにヒットさせました。１0代前半の歌唱だということも驚きです。その子供時代の歌唱力たるや、現代においてもそれを超える歌手を見つけられません。後のひばりの歌唱エッセンスがすべて、この１５歳までに表出していると言えましょう。「天才少女歌手」「昭和の歌姫」という称号そのままの姿を聴くことが出来ます。このＣＤは、当時の音源をそのまま利用していますので、その歌の素晴らしさが直接伝わってきます。

確かに将来において、演歌の大御所としての地位を占めたことや、国民的大歌手の称号を得られたその歌いまわしの巧みさを感じますが、大衆の圧倒的な支持がなければ半世紀に渡る大歌手の地位は確保できないと思います。

私も昭和２０年代の末に生まれていますが、戦後の混乱期を経て、日本人がどん底の生活から這いあがる心の拠り所に美空ひばりの歌があったことは間違いないと思っています。女性初の国民栄誉賞が彼女の死後与えられたことは、その功績にあったことでしょう。

一方、最愛の肉親の死や体調不良の中、昭和６０年代に発表された「愛燦燦(あいさんさん)」「みだれ髪」「川の流れのように」等の晩年の曲は、亡くなられた後も、美空ひばりの代表作として多くの人々に愛されています。全盛期のような声量もありません。立っているのもやっと、という状態ですので、歌へ全力投球できない歯がゆさもあったことでしょう。
その肩の力の抜けた歌唱が、どこかに哀愁を感じ、等身大の身近な歌手として、共感を呼んだことでしょう。

激動の戦後昭和史と共に、復興の日本のさきがけとなって駆け足で走りぬけた人生だったと思います。孤高の歌手として淋しい気持ちがお酒に向けられたのでしょうね。５２歳という早すぎる人生でした。

　このCDではひばりの原点が聴ける.私は偶然ひばりと同じ年に生まれ、終戦間もない東京の街中でひばりの「東京キッド」や「りんご追分」や「越後獅子の唄」を聴きながら育った.それは強烈な印象だった.貧しく明日はどうなるか分からない生活の中で、子供心にも希望を与える歌声だった.ひばりのレコードやCDは沢山出ているが、やはり歌はそれが最初に歌われたときのものを聴きたい.大人になって大歌手としての余裕が出てからのひばりでなく、子供時代の初々しいひばりの声で聴きたい.その願いがかなったのがこのCDだ.ついでながら、当時のひばりの映像も一緒についたDVDが出れば即買いたいのだが.

ひばりさんが歌うとどんな曲もドラマチックに聞こえてきます。歌に魂が宿っているとでも言うべきでしょうか。とにかく耳から聞こえてくる音以外の何かが私たちの心に響くのでしょう。
このＣＤはひばりさんのＣＤを初めて買う人にとっては選曲を見ても、値段を見てもちょうど良いと思います。このＣＤで満足できない方には是非ライブ版をお勧めします。コンサート会場の臨場感も一緒に味わえます。
