リージョン１なので特別なDVDプレーヤーでないと見れません。
イヴリン・ハートは、特別なバレエ・ダンサーだと思います。
先日、フラッチやセメニャカ、フェリを知っているのに、ハートを知らない人がいて驚きました。ハートといえば、バレエ史に残るジゼルで有名ですが、白鳥にも定評があります。

マカロワの徹底した振付と、どんな細かな動きも無駄にしないハートの白鳥は他では得難いものです。

最初、ビデオで購入したのですが、良い画質で見たくり、DVDでも購入しました。しかし、元々の画質が良くないので二つ買う意義はなかったかも知れません。（それでもビデオよりは鮮明で、しかも安価です。）

舞台収録作品ではなく、撮影のために踊っているためカットが変わったところで連続した時間（?り）でないことがわかったり、レーザー光線を使った古めかしい演出など、好きではない部分も多かったのですが、そこを押してもハートの白鳥には見る価値があると思います。

見ているだけで美しく、ため息まじりにうっとりさせるようなクラシックバレエの醍醐味が、ここにはあるのではないでしょうか？　ハートの白鳥を見ていると、オディールの黒鳥にだまされたジークフリート王子を、なぜオデットの白鳥があんなに素直に受け入れ、許せるのかが分かります。哀しい運命を受け入れる愛の強さなのでしょうか。繊細さ、はかなさ、絶望……短い時間にめくるめくようにさまざまなことが伝わってきます。

このように内容は素晴らしいのですが、画質や演出の問題もあります。ですから、「白鳥の湖」の二本目、三本目には、良い選択だと思います。

この＜白鳥湖＞は、'88年頃、N.Makadovaが振付・演出し、スタジオで撮影された記録映像である。カンパニーは、London festival ballet。主演は、E.HartとP.Schaufuss。
この＜白鳥湖＞には、何度と無く＜白鳥湖＞のOdette・Odileを演じてきたMakarovaが理想とする＜白鳥湖＞の姿が具現化されている。彼女は、ここでOdetteとSiegfriedの命を懸けた愛を表現する事に焦点を集中させている。それを前面に押し出すに当たって、必ずしも必要とは思えない要素を潔く切り捨て、逆にそれを引き立たせる要素を加えている。その好例は、３幕。普通この幕では、各国の踊りが見せ場になっているが、ナポリの踊り以外、各国の踊りは完全に割愛され、この場面を花嫁候補達の饗宴の場とし、この幕を妃選びの宴である事に徹底させている。他に、元の台本にはちゃんと役名があるBennoの復活も、筋書きの矛盾を解決するのに大きな役割を果たしている。
E.Hartは何と表現力豊かな舞踊家なのだろうか。彼女は必ずしも屈曲自在の柔軟性を持っているわけでもなく、また超一級のテクニシャンでもないが、表現芸術家としては超一級である。舞踊技術を超えて、彼女の微妙な身体の動きから、人物の心理状態が雄弁に語られる。眼の動きすら、人物の心を表現している。彼女のOdetteは、繊細で儚げ、十分な気高さを持っているが、意思の強さや威厳を殆ど感じさせない。正に観る側が期待する＜護ってあげたいOdette＞そのものだった。けれども４幕ではSiegefriedと運命を共にする決意を持った決然たる女性に成長した。HartはこのOdetteの精神の成長過程を緻密に表現し尽くした。一方Odileでは容貌がOdetteに酷似している以外、Hartは、OdileがOdetteとは全く別の人物である事を、完璧に表現している。彼女のOdileは、気品と美に満ちた誇り高い女性である。一見悪の要素が希薄のように感じられるが、王子を見据える凄みのある眼差しが、Odileが悪魔の娘である事を、正確に物語っていた。Makarovaが、彼女を両役にキャスティングしたのも納得出来る。
SiegfriedはP.Schaufussによって演じられたが、意外な程彼は、Siegfriedに嵌っていた。彼も純粋な心を持ち、心から求める物をOdetteに見出した時、人を愛する心が芽生え、４幕に至って、誓いを破った事への贖罪の意識を持ちながら、命を懸けて彼女を守り抜く決意を持つ雄々しい男性に成長した。Schaufussも、Hartと同様、人物の成長過程を表現する事にウェイトを置いているようだ。勿論彼は、天性の舞踊家、その舞踊技術は、全く素晴らしい。特に回転技は神技のようで、現在もこの技に関して、彼を凌ぐ舞踊家はいないと思う。その高度な舞踊技術が高い芸術性を保持している事も特筆すべき事である。London festival balletの団員達も良く踊り且つ演じ、Makarova版＜白鳥湖＞のテーマを浮き彫りにする事に貢献していた。
別撮りの映像がはめ込まれたり、画面の継接ぎが目立つ等、興を削がれる要素もあるが、主演の２人の名演で、その欠点は相殺されている。
チャプターは細かく分けられており、利便性は高いが、リージョンコード１なので、日本製の再生機では再生不可である。
