Will she ever exhaust her deep reservoir of soul-stirring ideas? Remarkably, A Day Without Rain, Enya's fourth release since her 1988 breakthrough, Watermark, establishes new artistic heights for the gifted Irish vocalist and keyboardist. The project, polished and refined over a five-year period in the company of longtime collaborators Nicky Ryan (producer) and Roma Ryan (lyricist), may qualify as her best yet--a radiant, beatific collection of works that command attention with their cathedral-like resonance as they soothe your spirit with some of Enya's loveliest, most graceful voicings ever. The disc's opening three tracks (including the spellbinding "Only Time") form a gorgeous trilogy that suggest Enya has deepened her focus on the nexus where sophisticated pop and regal mysticism, the twin rivers of her singular sound, form a seamless intersection. 癒しの音楽。ワイルドチャイルドとオンリータイムはぜひ聴いて。ワイルドチャイルドは、映画「冷静と情熱の間」に使用されてる。オンリータイムは、フジテレビの某番組に又映画「スイートノベンバー」に使用されてる。キアヌリーブスがファンで映画に起用された。

　私は５６才のおばさん　ここのところＴＶのＣＭでホンダエルシオンのＢＧＭがとても気になっていて　なんなのこの心地よい音楽はと思っていましたが　そこはネット社会　エルシオンのＨＰを開いていくと
ＣＭに使われているのが　Ｅｎｙａの 　A Day Without Rain のなかの
ワイルド　チャイルドという曲でした。えんやなんてイギリスのロックグループなんて大きな勘違いをしていたこのおばさん　ＣＤを聞いて心がどんどん癒されていくのを感じました。もっと早くに出会っていたかった！でも今からでも遅くはないですよね！

驚くのは、変わらない輝きとなお広がる世界観。じっくりと作り込まれたこの作品は、前作「Memory of Trees」から実に5年ぶりとなるアルバムですが、尽きることのない新しい旋律と、しかし、それでもなお彼女だからこそ紡ぎ出すことのできる、変わることのない神秘的なサウンドに、ただ感服するばかりです。

全体的に、前作「Memory of Tree」と同様、明るく弾むような曲が多いのですが、もちろん、前々作「Shepherd Moons」のような繊細で美しい曲もあり、アルバムとしての完成度も文句ありません。導入部を飾る、タイトル曲「1. a day without rain [ア・デイ・ウィズアウト・レイン]」、映画「冷静と情熱のあいだ」のメイン・テーマにもなった「2. wild child [ワイルド・チャイルド]」、至極の名曲「3. only time [オンリー・タイム]」、また、「5. deora ar mo chroi [ドーラ・エル・モ・フリー]」が前者、「7. fallen embers [フォーレン・エンバーズ]」や「9. pilgrim [ビルグリム]」が後者に当たるのでしょうか。

もちろん、枚挙にいとまがありませんから、すべてを列挙するような無粋なことはしませんが、そのほかの曲も荘厳で輝くものばかり。ここのところ3~5年と長いスパンでリリースされ、ファンをやきもきさせているエンヤさんですが、こだわり抜いてじっくりと作り込んだアルバムは、完成度の高く、商業的に曲を乱発するようなアーティストとは一線を画しています。もっと多くのアルバムを作って欲しいというのは、ファンの正直な気持ちかもしれませんが、ここは腰を据え、流れる時間を豊かに味わいながら待ちましょう。
