元セパルトゥラのマックス・カヴァレラ(g、vo)率いる4人組のセカンド。メタル起源のヘヴィ・ミュージックにあらゆるアグレッシヴ要素をブチ込み、マックス自身のブラジル人としてのルーツ回帰を睨んだ民族楽器の使用と土着リズムの多用という点では、期待通りの音といえるのだが、今回はとにかくゲスト陣がすごい。スリップノットやデフトーンズ、スレイヤーといった人脈の絡みは何ら不思議はないものの、何と、6曲目にショーン・レノンが参加しているのには驚いてしまった。サイケ感覚やアンビエント要素の強化といった新境地もありつつ――結局のところは、どこを切ってもメタルだという点でセパルトゥラ時代から何も変わっておらず、絶叫し連呼するサビもリフのパターンも、基本的にはこれまでと大差ないということに、果たしてどれだけの人が気付いているのだろうか? 手当たり次第に何でもアリの方法論をアイディア豊富と取れる人は楽しめるはず。 (奥村裕司) --- 2000年10月号

良いと思うよ。はじめはちょっとジャケを見てインドっぽいとか思ってたけど全然違う。かなりハード。ミクスチャーですね。たまにはメロも追っかけてみて欲しいものだなあと思うけど。セパルトラの流れから来てる人はどう思うのだろうって言うのがあるね。ゲストも凄い豪華でいいんやけどもうちょっとカヴァレラ本人だけが歌ってる曲もあれば良いのになって思うのは俺だけかな?でもかなりカッコイイ。熱い感じ。派手すぎずシンプルすぎずって言う感じ。おすすめは1、2、4、6、10、11、12。インストの10は目を閉じて聴いて欲しい曲。2曲目はカヴァレラとウィルへイヴンのグレイディ、デフトーンズのチノのヴォーカルの掛け合いがかなり良い。9曲目もカッコイイので聞いて欲しいですね。ライブ映像見たけど、かなり良かったような気がする。
