武満徹は｢クラシック｣の枠を越えて、様々なジャンルの音楽を手がけた作曲家である。その武満がこよなく愛した楽器、ギターによる代表曲を集めたこのＣＤの面白さは、表題曲"All in Twilight"等よりも"12songs for guitar"によく表れているのではないかと思う。一つは、誰でも知っているスタンダードナンバーのアレンジであるからこそ、｢武満の料理法｣が見える(見えやすい)ということ。Summer Timeなどはガーシュウィンの原曲がジャズという事もありさほどには感じられないが、その他の曲は原曲では聞かれないエスプリの利いたコードが楽しめる。もう一つはズバリ"A Song for Early Spring-"(早春譜）、つまり、演奏者Franz Haraszが、この日本の曲をどう解釈し演奏しているかという事である。ギターにしろ、或いは歌曲にしても、どうしても日本の演奏者は｢日本人のアイデンティティ｣にこだわる、というか、日本独特の表現方法に執着しすぎるように思う。(それが鼻につくことも度々ある)勿論、幼い頃から聞いてきた先入観もあるだろう。ところがこの彼からは、当然の事ながらそれらが全く感じられず、良い意味で期待を裏切る快演となった。録音はややこもりがち。近年巷に出回っているイージーリスニング系ＣＤよりは数段センスが良く、クラシック初心者の彼女へ贈るクリスマスプレゼントとして最適。
